Great to see the build thread up at last, looking good HC There's a lot of mistakes you could of made especially as it's your first attempt but you've done a bloody good job there mate. Have you had any luck with the bouncy ride yet? Hello buddy, hope you're well Thank you for your kind words - still much to be learned but I'm getting there! I'm working on the bouncy ride at the moment - will let ya know how I get on ;D awesome stuff and getting in the mag is awesome dude! Was'nt sure on it until you put on the chrome arches then for me it all came together! looks awesome dude! Whythankyou - I've had a few people say they're not too hot on the chrome arches but I'm with you (& we're right, obviously ) Still have a huge soft spot for Mk2 and Mk1 Grannies. I settled for a Mk4 Cortina in the end but will still own one of these epic machines! Awesome work done so far keeping tabs on this Thanks dude - Mk4 Tina's are also entirely awesome

i absolutly love it! chrome arches definatly go well on this one. i noticed your missing a bit of your stripe on one of your wings, if you fancy more chrome you can get some chrome beeding to run down it. have something similar on my merc img140.imageshack.us/img140/1738/g189j3371.jpg

Looking good Andy, more drop = more win Have you cut a few more coils out or binned the springs completely? Thanks dude - it's not really clear in the pic but the roofline is actually lower now that my mates (lowered) MG Midget I've chopped a few more coils; it's down to about 2.5 turns now. Had to roll the arches to get the wheels to tuck but the chrome covers will tidy that up nicely Binning the springs is exactly what I need to do - that'll give me even more lowness & if I've understood things properly allow the accs to do their job better. The question is: How do I do that?

Maybe weld some channel or 2 bits of flat bar with a 1/2" hole drilled through (like a shock mount) across the spring perch on the lower arm then replace the cup on the ram with a rose joint. Looking at your rams i'd guess the thread to be 1/2" UNF. I've got contacts for cheap rose joints and pleanty of imperial stainless bolts if you get any probs.

Yay! Nice one (I'm also amused at how you don't have to mess around with blocks of wood etc on the MOT ramp to get the jacks underneath )

Great news Andy.
Can't wait to meet your Granny next week ;D (although it's going to seem wierd not having the 190 at the unit!)
12 months of bouncing bliss for you....well done! Well done Granny....

Little hint from a banger driver - remove the circlips from inside the inner cv joints on the driveshafts and they won't self destruct

youre still running ARBs? woulda been the first thing I binned, none of my lows have had them, as they just work against the rams when trying to 3/etc. how have you got it plumbed, and how many switches are you running? 12v or 24v? do you have slow-downs? if you need some advice getting it set up, I think I can help. for max performance from 2 pumps, plumb it side-side rather than front/back. youll get a better/faster panic move and youll be using both pumps for hopping so will get a better hop (once youve got some practice in so your timing is right you say youve got accs on it? do they have lockoffs? if youre running them theres no reason to keep the bits of stock springs (but if you do, you need to run shocks as well to loose the bounce). you can just solid mount the rams at the bottom, the ride will be a lot harsher but youll loose the bounce and the system will work better. the other thing is that you really need to get some re-enforcement into those shock towers, and your trailing arms otherwise you will start breaking stuff pretty quick- the bolt holes will elongate, and the lower arms will start to bend, and then it will all start cracking. it needs plating up in min 1/4" plate to stop you doing some damage really. my pontiac had the arms wrapped in 1/4" top and bottom, plus plated mounts on the chassis, yet it still started to bend them (granted it was a heavier car, but a granny with a v6 aint a whole lot lighter!!)
