Having a weekend at home playing with the K70 and the splitty, Cleaned up some of the welding I did back in november, then started chipping out all the sound deadening from the drivers side floor to reveal.... Chop chop also cleaned up some of the underside and found a nice hole in the chassis leg to match the one that was on the NS... at least I know the best way to tackle it tomorrow! place your bets on how much metal gets in tomorrow!

Yo, looks like some great works going on here. Any chance of making the pics a bit bigger so we can see better? I think you can set the size prior to uploading in Photobucket, (might not be able to do it retrospectively like)

So managed to replace 3 out of the 4 floor sections today, Pretty happy with the patch to the top of the chassis rail and the replaced sections of the floor that I got done, Just need to do the corner and then that's done, then just a small patch at the front corner of the sill and that corner is done and the wing can go back on. need to tidy up some of the welds but happy days.

Rather than sort out all the links again, I've created a new album with larger pics if anyone would like to see! s736.photobucket.com/albums/xx6/D_R_Payne/LargeK70/and while I'm at it, I will show you the next project... 2 owners, 152000 miles, needs a little patching here and there but an absolute hoot on a wet road. there is also a little helper too.

Big weekend working on the K70, Finished drivers floor, OS inner wheel arch, OS chassis rail, fitted OS wing back on, cleaned up welds, de-rusted drivers door, POR15, fixed OS doors alignment. Then, I fixed the drivers seat so the cover was attached to the base again. Thought I would make a start on the back "half" of the car. Took out rear seat squab and back. More rust. Yay. Stripped of the bitumen from under the seat and footwells. More rust. Also found that this Is mostly filler. the chunk missing came out in one lump. Mojo lost. retreated indoors.

Spent the day stripping the engine bay and derusting the last bits ready for paint = Good Moved the car around so I could start working on the rear end = Good started looking around the rear properly = BAD
I made a 1 hole 18in long and about 5in wide just by poking a screwdriver in the boot, The rear cross bar is not even remotely savable. This is not mentioning the two dozen or so other holes or crust. My mate decided that it's almost too far gone to save.
I will sleep on it and look again in the morning.

Almost too far to save isn't too far to save, press on!
Seriously though, things always look worse before they look better, don't lose heart just approach it in a methodical way and keep sight of how you want it to be.
Good luck!

The corrosion /filler at the back certainly does look gut-wrenching. But it was cheering to see the front progress and sort of back together after to work that had gone on there.

Every time I look at this car I get worried that it's too much, and then get on with it anyway!
I read the thread from the start, and everyone has made such complimentary comments and offered enthusiasm, it would be like the equivalent of a slap in the face for all if I gave up on it.
So I'm going to keep at it. The worst that happens is that I get curse word off with it and leave it be for a few weeks now and then. Now lets get on and order some metal.

So made a few panels over the last week, let in some sections and tonight put a lot together. but the biggie was the cross member not too bad! Made a re-enforcement behind and under the towing eye, pretty much replacing what was there from the factory. 70% welded in place, Got some little corrections to make, but clean it up tomorrow. I'm most happy!
