mmm, tricky one. I own a Clio 182, only mods are suspension and performance wise, no way I would make outward mods (for fear of being mistaken for a Chav). I am not against modding rare cars, I have made massive changes to a Rochdale Olympic and there are less than 100 of them so I am no purist. I do however think that you would regret body mods to the Clio in time. Look at this way, the Clio Williams, the daddy of your car, looks great these days in standard spec. Modded 172's and 182's look poor IMHO, keep it factory fresh and play with the important bits, the engine, brakes and suspension.

Just go for it. My Cedric is one of approx less than 10 left in the country and I don't feel bad in the slightest. My 100A was one of 9 left too!
Sod the purists, its just a car at the end of the day

Your car is not 'epic', this thread is not 'epic'....the OCEAN is epic, the UNIVERSE is epic.... please stop misusing this word!! It would appear Hotrods are the new VWs - aint fashion funny! '69 BUICK LESABRE 350

purists are usually pennyless moaners
do what you like its your car ( and its only a clio)
i modified a clio a couple of years ago - by ramming it's rear with a Renault Traffic - IMO it looked much better afterwards, i wonder if the owner has stopped crying yet?

just because a car is rare does not mean it can't be improved nothing would please me more than getting hold of a genuine savage mk3 cortina and ditching the boat anchor of an Essex v6 in favor of a real engine and sorting out the awful ride height and curse word brakes. here's one i did earlier ;D sadly it was only the bonnet the was original savage the rest of it was still a very rare 2 door gt though so all good anyway ;D

It's only a car, just have some fun with it!
I know 02's aren't all that rare but still thin on the ground. I can't wait to get back into mine and start cutting bits out and putting better/bigger bits in.
The only time you should feel sad is if you see one smashed up in a crash.
Cheers

NON-reversible mods FTW! whats the point in modding if you're only going to make it back to stock again?
