Shiny newly refurbed Calipers with many thanks to Bigg Red Ltd. Sent them off Tuesday and got them back on Friday, so I'm very happy! Also got one upper arm re-jointed and polybushed, and on the new crossmember. Every other part is nearly finished drying from the paint. So it's getting close now which is exciting considering I havent had a car for over 6 months! Frustrating as well that it's taking so long when it could easily be done in a couple of weeks max. At least at uni in Brighton I can take my mind off it by dreaming of buying this

Red one has very flat paint but apart from that it really is solid. Such a shame to have to get rid of it but looks like thats what I might have to do. Got a taker but he wants to contaminate it with Ford so the gf and I are going to consider a way to keep it, slowly get it road worthy and she can drive it. All the suspension and front end stuff is the updates on the white one. Once the fronts on, the rear will be done, as will interior. Then I'll take the red engine and rebuild it for the white one and take the red's steels and band them for the white one. Then get the bodywork tidied up either next summer (as I was supposed to do the last two summers) or I'll get someone with the time and who knows what they're doing to do it. And that should be more or less it. Then I have this (vvvvv) to do, and that won't be cheap or quick! s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh14/oli8925/Baby%20Rebuild/

The red one looks really straight man, happy days for you! As for your other project - the link above worryingly came up first with the title "baby rebuild" which I thought was going to be a frankenstein child endeavour! Never mind the Mini, keep at the Viva's

But the Mini's my baby! I was originally going to paint her Tahiti Blue but then I grew fond of the slightly girly colour, it's something a bit different. Also came with 'BABY' across the boot, which is disgustingly cheesy but grew fond of that too. So her rebuild will see her looking more or less exactly the same, but with a lot more grunt and a lot more leathery comfiness! 3 years waiting crumpled in the garage but I'm determined to get started on her properly! If the gf and I keep the red Viva for ourselves, that'll be something for us to do part time and something for me to practice welding on (floors a bit crusty apparently) Even the white Viva was supposed to be a temporary, 'completely standard' runaround car to use while I rebuilt the Mini. Soon became clear that wasn't going to be the case

Good job Would you like to do mine lol After today...ummmm, no Been a disappointing day, thanks to bodged nuts and bolts, courtesy of one of the POs. And also thanks to my own disorganisation so now I can't find a washer and back nut for the brake lines. I also found that I had drum brake hub oil seals instead of disc brake ones so that's now been corrected. Took us a while to work it out though. Nevertheless, both hubs are back together so next weekend it should definitely be back on the car *touches wood*

Don't give up, you'll get there and it'll be worth it when you do I know how frustrating it is though. Take this Viva - my daily, came off the road over 6 months ago now, and only really started making progress a couple months ago. Now it's still taking ages because I can only work on it 2/7 days maximum. So even little set backs cost me a week in time. And the Mini, crashed and off the road September 2008, and you've seen the pics of it as its sits now. Haven't really made any progress with that yet and it'll be a long time and pocket before that even sniffs at tarmac again. Anyway, i'm jealous of the beast of a lump you're sticking in your Viva. I doubt mine will ever see anything like that power, and I've got to stick with a 1256 How's yours getting along anyhow?

Made some good progress this weekend! I'm hoping 2 weeks, maybe 3 until she's back on the road, but by then I'll be back from uni anyway so can work on her 7 days a week ;D Trying to manoeuvre the crossmember back up and into place. Lining up the two chassis mounts, two engine mounts, and two rear leg-chassis mounts wasn't easy! Rebuilt hubs on the car and Green Stuff pads fitted Back on the car with the steering rack new height at the front, and still yet to settle. Sits just how I wanted it so I'm chuffed. Although it's hard to see the drop in the pics

Another update. Took the rear apart today and dropped the axel. All went pretty well. Although everything had it's fair share of surface rust, nuts came off alright. ...almost. N/S spring bottom mount...cock it ...double cock it! So other than that all went well, and the studs have been drilled out of the spring mounts to be replaced with nut and bolt. DIY bush removal Wire brushing the rust off the arms Few coats of hamerite Out with the old, in with the new and low Lots of pointless pictures because I was freezing and it was an excuse to stay inside the slightly warmer garage More to come tomorrow

Man that front end looks gorgeous now! I was going to say "your front end" but that's got all sort of connotations attached..... I had never even contemplated taking the whole front end out and have sat for many hours squirmed up into the wheel arch trying to do all that work! Ha, i'm an idiot! Greenstuff pads are always a little glimmer there to cheer you up, now as Carmad said, if only I can do some work on my own...................
