Lovely bit of metal that man. Have a look at some of the potatochops that markbognor did in my p5 thread a while back - some mega win there.
Will be interesting to see if the steering box works on this bad boy.

this things great! i really want to do a big barge like this at some point; neatly modernised (hidden stereo, a few subtle electric gizmo's) to make it a bit more useable and to add to the luxury. front needs a subtle tap, not slammed mind.
whats the plans?

Cooler than a snowman's armpit, always loved these. There are 2 I see fairly regularly on the road (1 saloon & 1 coupe), they have serious "presence".
If you're anywhere in the region of Buckinghamshire and need bits, a mate of mine is breaking a P5B saloon for racing...

Thats a lovely bit of car. Wish mine had looked even halfway a good as that Sadly she just sat in the garage in bits and I just had to sell her on I feel that they are one of the best British motors of all time apart from the 30's racing Bentleys. Having a P6 again will probly be the most I'll get in the future. Fine bit of work you've done there

Great motor there, I had a 1972 saloon that was in a similar condition extermnally, but had a thouroughly rotten interior and some serious grot in varouus places, plus it had had patches on patches underneath. It was a GREAT car, fast, comfortabe RELIABLE. The serious rust in the D pillars and screen surrounds consigned it to the banger track however. The rubber conponents had gone exactly the same way as yours, just melted away. It must have been the way they all went I guess. I too loved all the little details, it was a real car!
Everyone loved it, my mum, my dad, the general public, people at petrol stations. For some reason black men of a certain age went mental when they saw it. (maybe they smoked one round back in the day?)
I'm gonna have myself another, one day. It wasnt even too bad on petrol!

Thanks for the positive comments Unfortunately it looks like I might have to pass this on to someone who's able to do something with it soon, as being at the mercy of the elements I can't get stuck in to the necessary degree - nor am I, unfortunately now, really in the position to. I tell you what though, if one thing, I know now exactly what to look for and I'd really like to own a useable one.... Probably be on eBay next weekend as a running, driving project Still, it was interesting and fun to play with it, albeit briefly.

Thats a beaut!!
I've had two saloons, but had to sell one, and give up on the other due to tin worm advancing quicker than I could pay for welding! :-(
One day I'll have a tidy coupe, possible with a Bimmer 540 V8 and autobox.

Great car and looks solid. Make sure you drown it in Waxoyl as once rotten, these cars are worthless! Spend a good day injecting 10 litres into every cavity. My brother had an ex-MoD black p5b saloon in black when he was 19. Sadly the idiot started taking the engine apart and then it sat outside for 8 years. One day I will own one. The best Rover ever made.
