This is a very rare Mitsubishi Shogun BBR Turbo. Made in 1987, this is one of only 400 or so ever made by Brodie Brittain Racing.
It has a 2.6 petrol engine pushing out an impressive 240BHP!! Here are some details from the BBR website: "When Mitsubishi pulled out of racing in 1986, the team decided to put their hard won circuit knowledge to good use by marketing a world-wide range of conversions for Mitsubishi vehicles. These ranged from electronic and re-boost modifications for the production turbo vehicles right up to the Shogun Turbo kit, creating the mighty Mogul 240 Shogun, an off-roader with a performance better than most contemporary 'sports' cars! Over 400 of these vehicles were built and they are still sought after today. Later versions of the turbo kit were fitted to the V6 models and the technology was also applied to the Isuzu Trooper."
I bought the car off Retro Rides last year with the intention of putting the engine in one of my Delica's but with so many other projects on the go, I have decided to sell it.
The car runs really well - it drove from N/London to Bournemouth without any troubles. It isn't acheiving full power, but it hasn't been serviced for a good few years. I would guess that a decent service and overhaul of the carb is all it needs to get its full power back.
The engine runs really sweetly - very smooth and quiet, no knocks, rattles or horrible noises. The turbo is giving good boost and spins up nicely. It could possibly do with a new intercooler and some fresh pipes, but a good opportunity to upgrade the intercooler anyway.
The brakes work, but could probably do with an overhaul do to not being driven properly for a few years (was stood up for a long time before its drive to Bournemouth)
All tyres are like new (alone worth over £100 2nd hand!) and the car will be worth a pretty penny if put back to its former glory....
This is a very rare car - with only a handful believed to be remaining and it's too good a car to break or scrap (despite my original plans for it!) I haven't had a major look over the body/chassis, but all seems pretty solid from what I have seen - certainly compared to most Mk1 Shoguns I've ever seen. The paintwork is faded and needs a respray ideally, but overall it's a great and very unusual car.
I have spoken personally to David Brodie in depth about the car and he has said he is more than willing to give advice about getting the mechanics back into tip-top condition. He has even offered to give the car a once-over/check once it is all running correctly. He built this car himself and knows all about it. Pretty cool huh??
Anyway, here are some photos for your perusal:
Please call, PM or leave a mesaage here if you want anymore details??
