Anybody else here think that a link to the MOT regulations could be a useful sticky thread in the Useful Threads Archive forum? Thought of it a few minutes ago while posting in surprising skoda's MOT problem thread "A long list of Fail".
I reckon that's a superb idea Dave, MOTs seem to be subjective at best if the tester doesn't like you or your car. I've had problems with my regular MOT man recently because I took 24vsters Sierra in having changed the rack and slightly overfilled the reservoir. It chose to spit the excess fluid out of the reservoir whilst he was lent over it getting the boy to 'wiggle the steering backwards and forwards' which led to him having a beard full of power steering fluid! Since then I've had a Corsa fail on air fresheners (which had been removed on the ramp) and some other dubious ones. I only use the place in question because previously (3yrs of 2 per week) they've been 'sensible', they're not interested in doing the work, so fails are fails and advisories advisory. An easily accessible link to the manual would be great.
And you have reminded me that I need to pay you a visit for a list of fail. Next week OK?
:)No worries mate, give me a ring at the garage and I'll book you in. The question is, will it pass a failure or will it fail a pass? It might even sail through a failure! Hopefully it'll fail a failure. I'll be off now for my medication!
