Which one? Cossie's more powerful off the bat and probably bit smaller too....
What other engines could you recommened for under 300 quid that are small yet powerful, and are registered as "good" engines?

Yea Alfa V6 would be gorgeous - gearbox tho? SR20DE - might look into that, there's one near me. It's got to "sound" and "feel" good, that's what i'm looking for as it certainly won't be a looker

Whats the engine for? The ford v6 is a bit heavier than the rover V8.
Does the cossie V6 have 184bhp as standard or am I thinking of something else, if so the 3.9 V8 out of `89 onward range rovers have the same power. Again depends on what you want from an engine if you looking for a relaxed engine with loads of torque then you can pick up 3.0 monza/carlton/senator engines for very little 180bhp for the 12valves. And I have seen senator 24v cars starting at around £300 204bhp as standard. If you want a high revving engine then something like a zetec or an XE or even a toyota 4age or 4agze are good reliable choices. But fitting kits are expensive for zetecs which knocks your budget up unless you are going to make everything yourself.

Senator's are RWD right? So I could get one of those and that's the fancy fun 24v V6 isn't it?

senators are a straight six the omegas had the v6 most senators had an auto box it was mainly just police ones that had the manual. but a complete car is the easiest solution if you want gearbox wiring loom propshaft etc..

I'll keep an eye out for some suitable lumps - the odd Supra turns up . The peaches are usually taken out, but there are plenty around still in the cars that wouldn't go for more than a ton.

I linked a couple of Supra lumps in the last 'Bay thread.

The Cossie V6 is really worth looking at. Ford recently sold these off and there's lots of very low millage and even unused crate engines floating around. The 24v versions are around 200bhp with a lot of torque and of course a nice smooth modern engine. The only real downside is there's little tuning potential. They bolt up to a type-9 gearbox aswell which might be handy.
