I know its a little pricey but sounds like condition and history wise it is the type of thing you search and search for but never find
you could always spend a grand and have another grand to spend on it when the bodge falls out in a years time and you find the wing has been repaired with newspaper
Or is it just me that buys lemons like that ;D

didnt they used to talk to you telling you stuff like "fasten your seatbelts". or was that just me? I think they did ;D. The funny thing is I think they were preaching to the converted...it's not like your average Maestro HL driver was a crazy off-the-wall-risk-taker-was it?. They should have fitted them to Italian cars!

Hah hah! I think it was just the MG and Vanden Plas that got the talking dashboard. My mate's brother had a 1600 MG one, and we took it to watch the RAC rally in one year. After 'yumping' it quite hard somewhere in the middle of Wales, the dashboard was never the same again, kept randomly warning us that a door was open or that the oil was low, for no reason ;D
That 924 is quite nice, I've got a bit of a thing for those... Although I'd like one in an early 70s colour, pea green or yellow or something!

The thing that gets me about that Viva is that at no point does it mention a current MOT. Sure he's got all the old ones, but as far as I can tell it doesn't have one now. Who in thier right mind would pay £2,150 for a vauxhall with no MOT?

if its such a minter though, an MOT is gonna be a bit of a formality surely.

How times have changed, eh.... I bought my first car about ten years ago - a 1978 4-door HC Viva 1300L, one owner, 22k, no MOT for £225! Plus mine was Coppertone Starfire (a lovely retro metallic turd colour). (It's now OldSkool's and the black 'n' flames suit it better.....)

I was thinking of buying myself a cheap runabout to replace the rover - not sure I can actually bring myself to be seen in it! So insipred by that volvo thread I looked around at some volvos and though.... ooh, 240GLT saloon, retro but not too old... built like a tank.... would look wicked with just a small amount of lowering.....overdirve... then I found this... cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9872&item=4565824069&rd=1and thought oooh only 70 miles away - bargain! Run it 'till summat goes wrong and then.... V8 V8 V8 V8 V8 woohoo! Then I started arranging to go and have a look at it..... and then I got a couple of insurance quotes. HOW MUCH?

I don't know. Tell us how much. Why not get a quote based on yourself and find out? (and if it's not too much you can go and buy it, make it look cool and make me jealous) Let's just say it was a lot more than the cost of the car and £130 more than the rover (which most companies wont touch with a 10ft pole) costs to insure!

Its £323 fully comp for me with Privilege. 23y/o male, 5yrs no claims, car garaged, valued at £750. That doesn't seem to bad, I'm paying over £500 on my BM 320. If i mention I wrote off my 325 last November it only goes up £35 (I protected my no claims bonus the day before I totalled it, thank feck!). Edit: Its £381 third party fire and theft!

Actually I did find a decent quote in the end... and then I went to see it and have just got back. It's a good solid motor, nice guy, but it is a bit tatty in places inc a large dent in one sill and a rear arch but all it needs for the mot is a new bit of glass for the n/s headlamp the only 2 bits of rust on the car sorting. These are holes about the size of the palm of your hand where muck thrown up by the rear wheel hits the body. Comes with 4 VERY good alloy wheels+tyres and one shot wheel+tyre. If anyone wants a beater to tow something etc. then I would strongly recommend it to them, mechanically it's completely sound but will need a new exhaust centre section before too long.
Seriously though it was worth the drive - that guy has a little slice of heaven. He and his mate have a large assortment of sheds next to his mate's house and he personally owns:
A MINT Saab 900 turbo, bought for £350 on ebay A currently being very well restored Saab 96 An MGB undergoing restoration A very rare old morgan in bits Two E28 beemers, 1 mint 535 and a spare mint shell An MR2 on a C plate The Volvo and that was just in the 2/3 of the lot that I could see... but my absolute fave had to be....
A Bitter!!! Hands up who's heard of 1 of them b4!
