After three days they finally answered my emails so me and Tonycocacola went to pick it up today. Previous owner (who bore an uncanny resemblence to batmans nemesis the penguin ;D) wasnt going to let me buy it if I was under 25 as it was "bloody quick" and "dangerous in the wet". So after proof of ID all went swimingly. Purchased for the tidy sum of £42 due to headgasket problem (slight water leak between 2 and 3 but no "cottage cheese" as he put it. Pretty tidy all round, interior immaculate apart from the dog hair and to top it all a boot full of genuine Isuzu spare parts purchased from an isuzu dealer that was closing down and a spare head . Among those spare parts are two brandnew headgaskets ;D The piece de resistance a spare car ;D. F reg lotus handling, stainless exhaust (with rust on so I think he was conned) five spoke alloys but no engine. So i will either use that as a spares car or get another engine to go in it.

Brilliant! obscure wobbly 80's J-metal! I presume it will live on, you can pillage your engine-less one for parts... Is that the plan?
I LOVE the styling of those Pizza's.

The only parts I know that I need are the head gasket (supplied) and exhaust manifold(supplied) everything else works at the minute. If I need spares I will use the other car but the other car doesnt look to bad from what I have seen in the lockup so I might end up fitting a new engine in that and have two of them. I am sorely tempted to do the head gasket tomorrow fit a tow bar and turn up for the other one during the week as he didnt think it would ever make it back on to the road ;D

That looks like a pretty complicated piece of engineering you've got there! Good luck with both cars!

Nice! That last owner does sound a bit of a cheeky b*stard though. Who's he to critisise somebody's driving because they're under 25?! I bet he's hardly Stirling Moss himself! your right, hes not. mounting kerbs, riding the clutch and generally being a w*nker. one of the questions he asked rich was "have you ever driven rwd?" rich replied 1 or 2 (more like 20 plus, all quite powerful to boot). hes the 2nd person ive ever met from hartlepool and he was as big a knob jockey as the last, maybe theres something in the air.or mybe the indiginous are just in fact tits.

It's not strictly J-metal y'know it's actually a GM T-car which believe it or not is the same base as our beloved Chevette. It's got a 2-litre trubo motor pushing out 150bhp in standard form, vented discs all round with an LSD at the back. It also has all kinds of mod-cons like air-con, central locking, cruise control, electric windows and variable rate PAS. Not bad for 1988!

Why is it re-badged as a holden in Oz? (probably being stoopid) but, Oz = Holden, Europe = Opel, UK = Vauxhall... But the piazza's an isuzu... tat confussed...

Isuzu are part of the GM group chevette/kadetts were also isuzu gemini`s and holden geminis.
Engines based on a bedford van engine supposedly. Quite low compression 7.5:1 and puts out about 150bhp with a fair bit of turbo lag mainly due 3 miles of ducting to the intercooler and back.. So the low compression means there is scope to up the boost and you can get around 200bhp without doing anything else to them but the bottom ends are a bit weak. The exhaust manifolds are also prone to cracking which is how the owner found out about the head gasket water leak.
Ive always considered buying a piazza and swapping the engine and running gear to a chevette or kadette as I have always preferred the look of them. But didnt really want to break a good car to do that. Getting two for the price of one now gives me the chance to do that if the second one is in too bad condition to repair.
Shellsyowner:- you might know do gm engines bolt straight to the isuzu gearbox or do you need to change the bellhousing.

I think the isuzu gearbox has a cast integral bellhousing (thinking back to when I did the clutch on mine!)
