thats a peripheral ported engine .i.e a race engine. If its any good it could be worth a fair old whack. if theres no eccentric shaft and rotors pull all the plates appart and check the rotor housings have no damage to the chrome. lots of info to be found on www.mazdarotaryclub.com

13B is the engine used in the Mazda RX-7. All Mk1, 2 and 3 cars had 13B engines, although more than likely there were changes and modifications along the way. The engine in the RX-8 is an evolution of this unit... I found this out here: www.rx7uknet.dircon.co.uk/main.htmlRather a nifty site, if not very techy. Try here for assistance: www.mazdarotaryclub.com/

Non of the series one Rx7's got a 13b in the UK, they were all 12a engined.
I'd guess this one is an early 13B out of a pre rx7 rotary, did it have MAZDA written on the housings or just 13B ?

Do you think that the rotor housings have been modified or do you think they were manufactured this way?

thats cool, NSU engines were a bit poor, eating tip seals quite quickly. I recon that pic has gotta be photoshopped and fast!

what is the the number of the Lola ? it could well be a proper Mazda built race engine as several Lola's ran at Lemans with factory backing. (there were two at goodwood this year) if you have ANY info please post it up on the Mazdarotaryclub.com forum as numerous people will be very interested. I guess if it has got a new engine in it the housings would be scrap they make an ace book end though (if your a rotor fan I suppose)

I saw that NSU at the brooklands rotary show earlier this year.
They are ace cars, very odd too, inboard front brakes, inline front wheel drive, very off power steering and the oddest carb setup that I have ever seen !
