When I was born, my folks had a transit dormobile, then swapped that for a mk2 granada, then another mk2 granada came along, then a peugeot 505 'familial' estate. then a mk3 granada.
Into more recent times (inside the last 5-7 years) they had a 505 GTi Estate, then an Audi 90 Quattro 20v (that I bought off them!) a 300Tdi Land Rover Discovery, a TD5 series 2 Discovery, in the last year, they've had a Mk5 Polo, and currently have a Passat 130Tdi and a Mk6 Polo.

Further to my earlier statment,.. my dad also had : 3 Morris Minors, a 3rd Beetle, Mk1 Cortina Estate-with fake wooden side detail, 1949 Sunbeam Talbot 90, Renault 16TL, P6 Rover 2000, 2 more Metros, MG Magnette, Morris Oxford, Austin 1300GT, Honda Civic, VW Scirocco,Triumph Herald, Escort Mk3, Vauxhall Astra, Ford Sierra, 3 Ford Corsairs, Riley 1.5, 2 Motor cycles My mum has also had : Mini, Triumph Herald, Mk1 Escort, Renault 16, Ford Sierra, Toyota Carina. On the subject of best or worst : Worst: most definitely any of the Metros, curse word build quality lousy handling very uncomfortable to drive and no street cred at all. Best (apart from new Honda) P6 Rover 2000 superbly well built, smooth and quick to drive, fantastic handling (even by today's standards) lots of class. Most regret selling: Sunbeam Talbot 90. "Congratulations you have won the Lotto, what car(s) will you buy" - too easy, getting garaging for 50 + cars is the only problem. Everyone say hello to my dad who is probably reading this now. Hello Dad!!

Ford Anglia 100E, Ford Classic 1500, Hillman Super Minx 1725, VX Victor 2000, 2 Morris Marina Coupes (one a particularly hideous shade - Citron Yellow), Mitsubishi Celeste ST (J Capri), Mazda Montrose, Toyota Celica ST(nice). The list goes on but starts getting modern after that.
Liked the Victor as it was the same colour as the one in the original Randall and Hopkirk and I thought it was cool to drive round in a car like a private eye. Absolutely hated the Marinas - cheap and nasty. Tried to no avail to get him to buy one of the original Celicas, which I thought at the time were really sophisticated. Even an Escort would have been preferable.

Going back as far as I can remember An Oval window beetle that he bought for £50 and sold for £80 and then was written off the next day by the new owner. up through the 70's
A MK3 Cortina Estate. A Singer Vogue Estate. A Hillman Minx. A Rover P6 2000 that he paid £50 for and got welded for £20 and got MOT'd
Into the 80's A Chrysler 180 A Vauxhall VX 4/90 A Wolsley 6 (bit like a big landcrab or Maxi). A Maxi An Avenger a Renault 20 TL
then into the 90's (including owning his own taxi service) Numerous MK4 and 5 Cortinas. MK2 Granada 2.3 and 2.8, salloon and estate (the first taxi fleet. 3 Hyundai Stellas (the second Taxi flee). a mixture of Sierra Hatches, estates and saloons 9the 3rd taxi fleet, plus a couple of minibuses and a Pug 7 seater diesel estate.
Sold the Taxi business and went back to one car. A sierra. A Rover 214 (originally boxy one) another Sierra. A skoda Felicia now has a Mondeo.
Guess my old man was a bit of a ford man despite all the other cars. the amount of times we helped swap the engine and boxes/clutches without a crane on all the fords inclding several transits using a stack of breeze blocks, a roofing joist and several ropeswalking up the breeze blocks to raise the engine on our shoulders as he guided it out of the bay over the radiator.
