My surprise win on ebay last Sunday! The only pic I've saved from the original ad - tbh it needs a really good machine polish but the weather's not really up to it. 98k on the clock, fair bit of history, new tyres in March, new rad, battery, wishbones and a box full of spares, old MOTs - bought for an embarrassingly low sum through the bay from a guy who's just been made redundant. Even had the receipt from when he bought it 18 months ago for about 3 times what I paid. Almost felt guilty...ALMOST ;D

well if the guy didnt want to give it away, he should have put a reserve on! nothing to feel guilty about imo. looks like a cracker from that pic! i'd love to be able to afford to run one of these cars. they look fairly modern considering they first came out in the late 80s

That looks great! Always had a soft spot for that shape Audi. I'm just fantasising what the 'embarrassingly low sum'might have been...... Any plans for her, apart from the polish?

I paid £500 for my Quattro in 2006 and I thought that was a good price. Less than that? Looks nice, they're solid cars. Yours is a 5 pot too, a proper engine! Not the Golf engine they chucked in the later ones. They have a tendency to eat wishbone bushes and the top mounts can go making them a bit jittery in the straight ahead position, other than that they're pretty bulletproof. Don't know about the 2WD version but the Quattro sticks to the road like glue. Enjoy it. Here's mine!

Wow, was surprised to see that on a 'F' plate. The shape makes it look much more modern than that...Nice buy fella.

Cheers for all the comments! Wow, was surprised to see that on a 'F' plate. The shape makes it look much more modern than that...Nice buy fella. I know, I was surprised too - nearly 20 years old! Found some tiny rust bubbles on one arch today and a little bit of lacquer peel around one of the Audi badges, but the body's clearly been looked after. Serviced her today (all of which took a little longer than expecting as I'm used to working on Dubs) - had to get the sump cover off before doing the oil and filter, air filter was under a load of hoses, changed the spark plugs but the last HT lead snapped - clearly gone brittle over time...grrr...new ones ordered for collectin tomorrow. In terms of plans I'm not really sure - the wheels could do with a refurb as there is a lot of bubbling on them but I do like them so I don't want to change them...she sits pretty low already...and it might not be the quickest but she'll cruise at most speeds. What would you guys do?

Tidy it up and smoke as is! If you lower it, you'll probably clatter the bottom to bits, mine grounds sometimes and it's standard. They look like 17" wheels? They fill the arches better than the 15s it comes with anyway.
Stainless exhaust might be an investment, new mild steel bits cost almost as much (was quoted £150 for a back box on mine!).
If the bushes and stuff go, polybushes will last longer. You can also fit cast wishbones as fitted to the S2 in place of the pressed steel ones. They're meant to be stronger.
The clear indicators look cleaner and you've already got them. Not much else you can do to improve these bar fitting a 20V turbo engine!!

Looks sweet mate.
Nearly had 1 of these about 12 years ago but something else shiny caught my eye, always regretted not getting 1, but i've now got my sport which i always wanted so i could always get a coupe.
I wouldnt touch it mate, just tidy the bits that need doing and keep smiling.

Agreed - they are 16" wheels, so slightly bigger than the 15" standards IIRC.
Stainless exhaust could be an option but it had a new exhaust 3 years ago roughly so not going to change it straight away if it's fine as is.
Again, when the bushes begin to go I'll put Polys on - but I need to start driving her some more...

I bet it was less than £530. I remember the auction as I was going to put a bid in.

Nice cheap car that mate, i always regreted selling mine a couple of years ago, i had the facelift 92 2.3E in alpine white, i knocked on a door to enquire about one a couple of months ago but he wanted more than you paid for yours and it had been stood 2 years, laquer was crazing all over and the screen had started to de-lam, i offered £200 with a view to break it and was flatly turned down as he wanted £600.
Personally i would change the wheels to audi 10 spokes as i think they are the best wheels for the coupe.
