I've just been speaking to nightmaresracing and it would seem that this HA Viva is sadly no more. Apparently the owner, Jo, hit a patch of oil or diesel on a roundabout last night, went into a spin and hit another car head on. She was thrown through the windscreen (no seatbelts) and the car is a total write off. Fortunatley she's ok apart from a few cuts and bruises and is already planning its replacement. The fire brigade had to cut the other driver out but it seems that they are ok too, apart from seatbelt and airbag injuries. I'm gutted to see the end of this little car as its been a familiar sight around here for the last 10 years. I used to see it everyday on my way to work. All I can say is I'm glad everyones ok and the old car will live on in one way or another as all the good bits are gonna be used in the next one. It just makes you realise though, that although you might feel safe in your little box, you never know what can happen when you least expect it, even when your not going mad. Stay safe people

Thats supa harsh, real cool car. By the looks tho the next one will be good!
The no seatbelts thing is scary, harnesses saved me when i crashed my first car. I have had them in every car ive had since, four points 3" makes all the difference.

That's terrible news . But it could've been a whole lot worse. I saw that car at last years RCS as well as this year, and really liked it. What a shame!

J I know what you mean, I've been in accidents before, and if I was ever tempted to run a motor without seatbelts or even not to wear one then I'm certainly not since, I was in a crash in an Imp with no seatbelts in (they normally have them, this one didn't at the time) a few years back but wasn't hurt, and I decided that nobody gets that lucky twice. Besides that I went to school with someone who was in an accident (their own fault for joyriding their brother's car right enough) with no seatbelts and they ended up in a crash and broke their spine, f*ck knows how they were able to use all their limbs months after it, he really did get lucky, but that crash shocked more than a few of us then into watching what we were doing in motors. Not that I was ever a joyrider.

Thats awful, glad everyone is ok. since i had my accident it opened my eyes to the fact you are constantly inches from disaster even when you are just cruising.

Crumbs, a few token cuts and bruises after being lobbed through the windscreen is pretty good going, I presume it was a toughened/laminated job and not the original 1960s neck slicer!
Glad to hear there were no proper injuries, result.

I relly don't get why people choose not to wear seatbelts
I'm allways having people getting in my car and saying 'do i relly have to bother with the belts?' I mean.. wtf!! they are there for a reason!
Even if the car dosent have them as standard it should be first on the list of mods imo.
