...I'm thinking of running the old Vitesse up "the pod" on saturday night. Assuming I manage to not blow it up, any guesses on the sort of time I shud be expecting It's been rolling roaded at a shade over 100bhp. Kerb weight of approx 800Kg and overdrive on 3rd and 4th ( althought I doubt i'll need it ! )

try here for a rough calculation. needs to have your weight included, but if you weighed nothing it gives a time of 15.95.

It says mine in the 205 should be 17.08, and it was actually 17.11 so it looks to be pretty accurate! However that was on sticky sticky tyres.

Well, didn't go quite aswell as i'd hoped ! first run did a 17 something with a completely rubish start. second run got a much better launch but then lunched the gearbox going from 2nd to 3rd with the result that i cudn't move it across the gate so, no 1st 2nd or reverse and no drive in 3rd either. that left me with 4th gear to drive the 35 odd mile journey home ! selector forks and layshaft anyone ??

That's something I'm worried about when I finally get to take a car on the strip - breaking something important! I suppose that's all part of it though isn't it? I mean, if the idea is that you're testing the car's performance limits that also means you're testing the performance limits of the components. ;D Hope you get it sorted soon, and well done for having a go!

Mr. Fish, yes i'd be interested in your 'box if you have one, although i am also contemplating a swap to a larger saloon 'box in the future.
Mr. Phooey, you were almost cock on ! Good effort.

Sad news. I should do 17.8 secs according to that calculator - sadly I have a CTX autobox though.
