I have always liked these cars but have not really seen any being modded or part of the retro scene. Is it just because they are Rovers?! traditionally owned by a flat cap. I am thinking this could look amazing with a tiny amount of changes, slammed on some nice period wheels. What does everyone think? If anyone could photoshop it on some nice wheels, would be really interesting.... This one is for sale on here by the way - (not connected to the owner in anyway).

i think they're fine as virtualy standard,,,,,,,,,,,,,even with faux rostyle hubcaps on banded steelies and only a small amount of lowerage
ive liked these cars for as long as i can remember when my dad had a rusted out one in 94
maybe because they have specific foibles like rusting badly,,,,,having weak manual boxes,,,,,weird front suspension would be enough to put most people off owning one (i think its 100%worth the effort to maintain a nice one because the good points far outweigh the bad points)

Am I getting old or do they look very cool? There's no logical reason those things must be mutually exclusive.

i nwas lookinf to buy a P6 last year, but ultimately what put me off was the high potential for a snotter wrapped in shiny panels, V8 versions are quite cheap at the moment, and far superior to the lowly 2000TC.

Love them.
My dad had one when I was very young, an early white one that seemed to run out of go-juice with alarming regularity. I can still recall the funky dash, and the musty, oily smell it had. Awesome.
Maybe next summer I'll take the plunge. Unless I get carried away and buy the satin black one that's on eBay atm....

when a cars that perfect as standard why mess with it ?
they are everything a true british car should be , nice shape but not tooo big , the lovely smell of hide when you open the door , a nice solid clunk when you shut the door ( not a ping like modern stuff ) and the burble of a v8 when you turn thre key (although it is buick derived )
the only mods I would make to one would be a boot mounted rack something nice in the ice department and maybe some period alloys like minilites

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Here's my old one. Learned to weld on it, nailed the whole subframe back together, scavenged a set of plastic wings for it, changed the 'box for one that a neighbour's friend dug out of his garden 'cos it only went backwards when I got it, made my own exhaust for it and painted it white. It used to set off car alarms!!!! It was quite rare insomuchas it had an electric Webasto sunroof that I've never seen on one before or since. It wasn't fast, but sounded the piece and was sh!tloads of fun. Traded it for a Trans Am and it was all downhill from there!

I suspect that they're too radical for the 'Auntie Rover' P4/P5 brigade, while too staid for much of the rest of the classic community.
EDIT - too staid in Image, anyway.
