Dare I say it, but Grease.
Some tidy motors in that film, if you can ignore the drama school acting, and cheesey "Ripoff" music.

Van Nuys Blvd. A 1979 film loosly based around American Hot Rod Street Racing, the main vehicle in the film is somekind of Yankee Van which the main character drives around in which I have personally fallen in love with all in all a fun film with tons of Retro Rides and TITS!

The Long Good Friday: Mk1 Granada, BMW 3.0 saloon, Mk4 Cortina (with a vinyl roof), Jag XJ6 and more. A Rolls-Royce gets blown up, but it's only a Shadow in a horrible gold colour with whitewall tyres. So no great loss.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

The Porsche 956 in Top Gun
Can't remember which car it is, but the silver sports car in Con Air.
^^^^^^^^^^ It was a Corvette.

Un Homme et Une Femme - won Oscar for best foreign film in 1966. Jean-Louis Trintignant, the male lead, played a racing driver. His road car was a '66 Mustang convertible, but professionally he drove a Mustang rally car, a GT40 and what looks like a Formula 2 single seater.
Some great footage of Le Mans (1964, I think) and the Monte Carlo rally with Mini Coopers, DSs, Rover and Triumph 2000s, Lancias, etc.
The female lead's husband also has an Adenauer shape Mercedes convertible.
Storyline a bit cheesy and improbable, but worth watching for the driving scenes.

Anyone see Rendezvous.
The Director is the driver, thrashing round the streets of Paris on the early morning, in Ferrari. Only sound track is the engine, and the traffic noise.
The natural daddy to the "getaway in stockholm" series.
At the end, he gets to were he is going, gets out and kisses his girlfriend.

No, but I 've heard all about it. Has the same director as Un Homme et Une Femme (Claude Lelouch). There were rumours that he drove the Ferrari in the film. The official version was that it was an unnamed racing driver, but apparently a few gearchanges were botched, casting doubt on this and suspicion onto Lelouch. Would like to see this.
Another good film for 60s classics is the Bond film OHMSS - Aston DBS, Mercury Cougar (complete with a young Diana Rigg!), Merc Fintail, RR Corniche and ice-racing Fords.

All CHiPs episodes! How about 'What's Up Doc?' with Barbra Streisand...another great San Fran chase scene! I was looking for a screenshot when I stumbled across this highly relevant site: www.varaces.com

Word on the street has it that the film was also sped up to make it look a lot faster than it really was. Still very cool though. Best retro short film though is the award winning Climb Dance www.geocities.com/nosro/climbdance/
