recently used the steel seal In my fathers knackered skoda fabia engine, coolant was FULL of oil
flushed it to death, put steel seal in following instructions
now drives sweet, no more excess heat and no oil contamination

I ran a Mercedes (W123) 230 with a dodgy head gasket for about 3 years on a 6 monthly dose of Bars Leak. The engine was pretty shot anyway so it was a worthwhile remedy - wouldn't recommend using it on an otherwise good engine though, and yes the stuff did eventually clog up the radiator etc.
