I received the following letter today through the Alfa club. If you're interested please make contact with the guy.
Hi Richard,
My name is Matthew and I work for a TV production company called Twofour Broadcast (www.twofourbroadcast.com <http://www.twofourbroadcast.com/> ). We are currently making a series of documentaries which takes a modern day look at the “7 Deadly Sins”. We aim to see how these “sins” are still apparent in modern society in the UK and US.
One of the approaches we were taking to our pride show was that of extreme car pride. I was hoping to speak to someone at your club, maybe yourself, about this. Basically, we are looking for contributors who take pride in their cars to extreme levels. With this being for a FIVE documentary the emphasis is on the extreme. We’re hoping to find a man (or woman) who has sacrificed the most because of their love of cars.
Maybe this person lives in a shabby flat but drives a gorgeous vintage motor?
Maybe this person’s love of cars has meant the breakdown of relationships?
Maybe their family has had to cancel a holiday because they desperately needed an expensive spare part?
Maybe a partner has issued an “it’s me or the car” ultimatum? Who knows?
I’m sure during your time on the classic car circuit you’ve come across tales of people like this – maybe you’ve even met some, or some are part of your organisation itself! As with any interests, there are those for whom it can turn obsessive. Its worth mentioning now, the tone of the piece is quite tongue in cheek!
I was hoping you could maybe circulate a plea to your members and also have a think about any examples you know of. We would really love to find a strong case study to include in our documentary so if you have any good contacts feel free to pass my details onto them (they’re detailed below) or vice versa.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Many Thanks,
Matt
