Picked up my copy today - well packaged etc - my only complaint is that a fair amount of the content can be found on here - but in reality I suppose that's inevitable.
It's certainly vastly superior to PPC which, in my opinion, is a rather amateurish affair - though it seems that is why some people like it!

Looks pretty cool! Rootes Maneuver coverline, though? Eeessh...
Can't wait to see this, it all sounds very interesting. I just hope there's enough people to sustain it.

The missus picked up a copy for me today and personally I think it's bloody excellent ! It's great to see some well known cars getting the recognition they deserve and as with PVW the photography is superb . Can't wait for the next issue

Got mine! after trying six shops I found it in the local SPAR of all places, pleasantly surprised to see my Sapporo pimped out again as I'd only heard a rummer from the Andy (the photographer) that it might make an appearance some time, I wasn't expecting a full feature in the first issue First impressions are really good, lots of enthusiasim, varied mix of cars/ styles and ages and some genuinely new information all presented in a style that is fresh for a classic/ retro publication. yes it's very similar in presentation and layout to other well known one makes titles out there and if it's working for them with only one brand to pull the punters in then I really hope that Retro Cars can build on this Awsome first issue in the same way I'll certaily be looking forward to the next issue

I wouldn't expect to get paid for a feature either, it'd be something of an honour to have a feature worthy car.
Anyway, I wish we could get this here, chances of this are likely slim to nil... no publication here caters for anything that is neither a "proper" classic, or an "import" modern modified car.
If anyone would like to help in getting me copies of Retro Cars though, send me a PM I'd be most grateful.

Looks like I've got a new default extra-reading-what-shall-I-buy magazine. Sure I could make some constructive critcism but then I'd do that in an email to them rather than worry you lot with it.
I'm not familiar with the other Unity titles as I don't do one make magazines. The mix in this issue seems spot on! I also much prefer it when an editor actually says something in his piece rather than just list the contents. See the Baggely years of Custom Car for reference... Keep it up!

As far as I know the only people paid for features are the journalists and photographers. The day that changes in the retro scene is the day I quit it.

Being a unity mag and staffed by Ex - PVW people Hi J1mmy always good to see lurkers surface, welcome. I've still not seen RC mag Mk2, Nor have I ever seen PVW, though mostly hear good stuff about it on here (i think). Funny thing is when RC mag Mk1 started I was an avid reader of Classic Ford Mag, using it to fuel my mojo for my XR2, but insted getting brainwashed to the ways of RWD OSF's! ;D The first RC mag was very much like a follow on of Classic Ford which to me wasn't so exciting apart from the promise of other oldies, can't blame em I suppose, if they have all that info, and available to re-edit stuff on tap, it would be mad to not include bits for those who missed it and to keep costs down. I got bored of both mags in the end. Plus you can't help what you like and know about as standard. I'm hoping to find RC mag Mk2 fun fresh and educational, I'll be buying the first few at least, after all if it is any good, they need us buying. Verdict coming soon.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You mean you haven't been paid?? I know several people who have had mag featured cars, and none of them have ever been paid, nor did they expect to be? I think it's gratifying enough to have your car singled out as feature-worthy in the first place, and knowing lots of folks will see it. Plus you normally can get some top quality pic of your car to add to your photo albums.

Lets not start the "paid for features thing again". People don't get paid, end of. No budget and no shortage of cars to feature dictates that. Us journo's only just get paid ourselves (no matter what people may have heard) so there is certainly no moolah for paying owners. Fin.
