Well as most of you are aware the GT failed its mot on a Small hole in the sill, out of shape tyre(turns out its fine so tyre center have written a legal form to say they are basically bullshitting me), A blowing exhaust (fixed now) and antiroll bar bushes)
Well the Hole in the sill was my majour concern as MG don't do a fix panel it a Whole Sill which goes under the front and rear wings (bummer, as the paint could be buggered), So after talking to my Local MG center I seem to remember the Outer sill not being structural unlike the MG Midget, So I asked the MG Center and they said yes your correct so i Decided to buy a whole Sill and Fabricate a Fixing section(Expensice Method) But looks better than some Plate. The Orignal Sill was only 2 years old so the reason for the hole must be a Leak which was found, and sealed.
Here is how i Got on
THE HOLE!!!!!!
Not too big but I wanted this job Done and not be on my mind for future MOT's
SILL CUT OUT
See where the water has been getting to the inner panel
CUT OUT SECTION
Nasty
CLOSE UP
Cleaned Up a Bit
RED OXIDE TO STOP THE RUST
NEW WHOLE SILL
Note the to end sections these reside beanth the Front and Rear Wings
INSIDE THE MAIN TUNNEL
Sprayed with Red Oxide and then Waxoyl (yep i did burn myself and the floor a few times when the welding commenced LOL)
DISTANCE SHOT
Not a Bad job
NEW PANEL IN PLACE
A perfect Fit, using the old cut out as a template, not too bad actually and seem welded into place and tacked across the top and bottom
NEW PANEL SHOT 2
At the moment the whole fitting is done i have Grinded the welds down and she is file with a bit of filler and stopper, Yesterday i put the Bar Coat Paint on to stop the Under coat reacting with the Previous Paint then this weekend i Will put the Primer and Top Coat on and Job Done
