Seems to be a few of these going missing lately, for what purpose? Wouldn`t have thought it would be banger racing or weighing in, they worth a lot abroad or something? Either way I`m glad the BBC considered it newsworthy, cars like that are national treasures.

Its too easy to sell one of these without any id, or by a logbook and tags of ebay and then punt it on. The prices they sell for coupled with the ease in which they are stolen are a thieves dream

Thats dreadful, but no more dredful than the theft of anyone's cheerished car. Thats just more newsworthy because of the value / circumstances / photogenic nature of the car.

So mister plod, you serious think someone is going to rob someone's fully stickered rally replica escort and then just pop down to the shops in it a couple of times a week, maybe leave it outside the pub while they go for a drink?
Good to see they're doing their normal level of investigation, that is, wait till someone does their job for them.

Not having a copy of the Sun handy...
I'd guess so. Do the guys have the same name or anything?
Its not uncommon for the Sun and such papers to pick up on a story a week or more after the BBC or whoever already covered it.

I'd say that car's either on a container ship or in 1000 pieces by now. Either way, the thieves stand to make a mint.

I would image that its in being stripped as we speak? curse word, how many more innocent Fords will have to suffer the same fate! Anyone who reads Practical Classics will remember Will Holman's Sierra Cosworth, that also went walkies
|
|
Sierra - here we go again! He has an illness, it's not his fault.

With Group 4 escorts making upwards of £20k regularly now, this is going to get worse There was an RS1800 Group 4 in Motoring news with FIA log book, for sale for £80,000 Classic rallying.... don't you just love it ;D

Mind if you were going to do a proper insurance job, you'd not leave the keys in the car..... would you?
Keys in car = no pay out, or so I thought!

The car was sold by the person who claimed it stolen.

Hmm, surely the buyer would have something to say about that.
