I have got the head off and striped , where all becomes clear cylinders 3 and 4 where connected, leaving some pitting so i am going to get the head skimmed. I am also going to change the inlet cam to a higher lift one from a golf 1.8 16v kr engine, that i have been told should significantly improve the performance especially after a good polish. There is also excess deposits on the exhaust from number 2 that i presume to be from the excess oil consumption from a valve stem seal leaking quite a bit in to this cylinder!
