Just done over 1000 miles in my little brown car and so far its averaging 22 +MPG which is good givin it gets revved about alot. still gotta sort out wheels- bring on polish. And bought these a weekend ago. One has only done 15,000 miles since rebuild and the other is a rare Elford Turbo converted 12A with 160BHP. £300 for both with lots of other bits and pieces including a good rad and oil cooler, two full Stainless exhaust systems and a gearbox plus some spare rx7 wheels with good tyres! Jump on the bus fellas - Rotarys are a very cheap source of free revving power !!!

Would you by any chance know what a 12A or a 13B weighs? Hoping to find a sneaky way around the laws on front axle weight on Kadett B`s over here.. If they are light enough, it would save me about J1000 because then i would not need a Kadett 1700, 1900 rallye or GT crossmember and axle

I want to keep it looking standard but have bought some 13" slot mags a while back- not sure if I should fit them though- it'll look cool but lose that OLDMAN CAR look.... ???hmmmmmm- what to do? Keep the steels! They look the biz and wolfies will ruin the overall sleeper image. You need a tartan rug on the parcel shelf too! My first car was a Shove it - great little beast. Baz

Hi there madmaxx, A 12A weighs in at about 130kgs. I added overall about 10-20 kgs to the front of the chevette. I think the bare rotary engine block is not a lot heavier than a standard chevette 1256. I think you'll be fine! are old mazdas coomon over there...and as cheap as they are here? alex

Love that Elford turbo motor, that'd be sweet in a Toledo or Dolly! Period punch! Any plans for what you're going to do with it? Rotary turbo Chevette? ;D Might see a hike in fuel economy as well if it's well setup

Not sure yet- I've got an old series 3 rx7 which i'm taking a working 12A out of so i think i'll plonk the elford into that and see if its a goer. If noi i'll sit on it and ponder.....
I've always fancied a 2 door dolly sprint. My girlfriend owned a 175bhp sprint for some time and it was lovely- but always thought about taking a toledo and trying to fit the sprint sub frame etc. i'm sure someones done it!

Yea, been done lots of times now - it's just a bolt up job Finding a two door Toledo is getting quite a trick now though - about 30 of them left registered to the DVLA, if that!

This is one AWESOME Chevette! What a great plan. Take some bread-and-butter small car, lob a powerful, revvy wangle at it and scare the wotsits out of unsuspecting members of the public with it! The conversion looks incredibly neatly done. I once saw a Shove It with a 3-litre V6 from an Omega between the frame rails. Now THAT went nicely in the hillclimb! In fact, it was at the last ever Crystal Palace sprint! What a great event and venue. Shame it's gone for good. "I'm"

curse word- the 1.2 is light! I weighed the 12A with the manifolds, carb, alternator, starter etc to get that weight - 130kg. Then weighed all the chevette engine and bits and they were about 115kg.

well then Madmaxx- you'd better start getting some bits together and then soon there will be a 2nd 12A powered 'T' car in Europe!
Just think- with nothing more then a bit of die grinding you could have a cheap little 200BHP revvy rocket!!!! ;D
