Gday there. Awesome site! I just love some of the cars on here. Just thought I stick a couple of pics up of my old girl. Little rough round the edges, but its still a work in progress. Pretty slow progress as time and money allow. But I reckon its a long term thing. Its running a bog stock 1300 with the Motorcraft carby and the 3 speed auto. She ain't no rocket ship that's for sure, but perfect for cruising. I've had the suspension poly-bushed so it does handle a little bit better.

Looks quality! Don’t bring it to the UK whatever you do, someone will have a roll cage, placca windows and 2.0 spluttery pinto in there and be caning round a forest in it before you can say ‘Motorsport news’!!!

Venetian blind! Proper retro accessory.
I'll stick my neck on the penski chopping block and say that some 7x13 minilite style wheels and a subtle ride height reduction is all it needs. MEGA!

MEGA! cool, sounds crazy. cool ideas, so long as its not bubble arches and lots of spot lamps! whats about revolutions? or alley cats? - minilites are far too normal and everywhere!

Thanks for the feedback guys.
At the moment the plans are to keep the car original as possible. The paint is kinda stuffed (too much time in the sun) and I'm hoping to get a coat of paint on it in the next couple of months.
After paint there'll be new window rubbers all round and new carpet.
Then after that, the engine needs a freshen up. I'm tossing up whether to keep the engine completly stock or to stick on a Webber and extractors and maybe a mild cam. But then this doesn't go with the original theme. But it would mean its better to drive every day.
And same goes for the wheels. I'd love a set of alloys, but then thats not standard either. But any thought of wheels is a little way off, the budget is going elsewhere at the moment!

That's gorgeous. Don't change a thing, it's perfect. The XL came with disk brakes didn't it? been a while since I had a MK1, the memory is a bit hazy.

Thought I'd better stick an update on. Its been a little while. Had the old girl off the road for a few months in the middle of the year. A friend of a friend did me a great deal and took her back to bare metal to get rid of all the cracked paint. Then a fresh coat of brown and new white on the roof. Looking great imho! Pity it makes the chrome bits look a bit 2nd hand now. Guess they're the next step, after I put the interior back together. Trying to get some carpet that actually fits. We'll get there soon. Some pics after the new paint...

Hats off to you, that does look fantastic! One day hopefully mine will look that good!
As for carpets, I've yet to see any non-original ones that fit properly - mine certainly doesn't! And my original one disintegrated when we took it out. In fact a lot of it is probably still in my lungs in dust form!
Anyway - top work!

looks great with the new paint, i think the chrome looks fine, cant see any issues with it in the pics at all.
this is one of those cars that shouldnt be modded at all in my opinion.
