they can however be made a bit faster even, if you mod the electric kickdown switch with some extra wire and a dash switch you can hit the switch while sitting still and it'll kickdown into first, saves the half second or so the box takes to do it when you start moving. You could do that, or an easier option is to drop the box into 1 at the lights then back into D and it automatically starts in first... See they think of everything these Germans... |

See they think of everything these Germans... don't work on mine or on the SL I was using, I tried it. Actually i just looked in my owners manual, and what you suggest is mentioned, but it says it will make the trans "engage second gear earlier at higher speed" whatever thats sposed to mean, but it don't make it start in first gear anyway. L is for "load" S is for "slope" D is for "direct drive" but whatever you do it will only kickdown into first if your stationary and the floor (dash) switch is activated. |
