	I love the BMW Art cars, had the AC Shinizer (sp?) 635csi model as a Kid and always wanted to do a real one..... Jane couldnt understand my reaction when I saw it for real at Goodwood a few years ago ;D The Lambo is seriously cool...... all we need now are the pictures of the 996 turbo in Camo to complete the set Anyone got them to hand ?

	I can take a guess at how it was done.. You can copper plate straight onto steel, and you don't need to submerge it completely either. All you need is copper sulphate. You don't even need electricity, you can just swab the stuff onto the metal, and it plates it thinly!

	Nope, the steel wont rust once it is plated! the copper itself will corrode though. Exposed to air and water corrodes it just like steel, cept it turns to green powder. It would need a good coat or 3 of lacquer on top, or a good waxing at least.

	Yeah, copper sulphate is bright blue. No, you CANT plate it over paint. Plating forms a chemical bond between two metals. The parent metal needs to be absolutely clean and bare.

In which case, powdered copper mixed with lacquer is probably your best bet...Completely bare-metalling a car isn't exactly practical...And most of ours would be half metal and half bog. *n

	To hydrate it.. mix it with water. Battery water would be a good idea, to keep it pure. I have actually found out that in the case of plating mild steel, it will stick to zinc based primer, possibly even better than it will to bare steel. You want weld through primer, or the stuff sold as "cold galvanise" treatments. Given that it may stick to primer like that (obviously only because of the very high zinc content) then you could copper plate ANYTHING that paint will stick to! Tinplate, it definitely sticks to, without any electrical help. I have a tinplate airbox for my mini, and I'm getting some naughty ideas actually.
