Every so often I check ebay for Lada's. There always seems to be a couple of Nivas on there but no other cars. Does anybody know why this is? I'd have thought somebody would have latched onto the whole tramp drift thing with them by now.

it'll probably be because they all fell to pieces due to the curse word build quality... so I heard anyways.. ;D

I think most of them have returned central europe most of the 2101's foubnd their way onto RUssian ships, they where stripped for parts and shells dumped at sea!!!! Russia put a big import charge on this to stop it!

Yeah, there was a time some years back where they were worth nothing over here but highly prized all over eastern europe, ones with terminal tin worm were stripped of anything useful by the crew on board the ships en route and the shells just pushed over the side!
autovaz- you beat me to it!

Matt Its not just Ladas that aren't on ebay, anything that you decide you might fancy buying disappears when you have a look on ebay. Its like it knows you are looking and hides them.

As well as the cars all being exported they have been destroyed in films too. One of the james bond films and one of the 'Bourne..........er, one of them anyway. Also there were afew all lada banger meetings too. It probably didnt help that everyone who never owned one hated them and thought they were cr@p. I found my one totaly by chance on the exact day that I needed a new car, and I'm more than over the moon with it. Its fun, reliable, cheap (tax, insurance, fuel(once its sorted)) RWD, its old with enough modern touches to hold its own, get looooaaads of attention, and its also coool as feck. Do ya envy me, do ya? Ha? The Golf is my mates and these were taken on saturday whilst 'prepping' my old maxi, the Bilge Barge its got a lovly fur coat that car . Love that yard, full of rated rotton motors and spares. Free spares ;D Free classic spares ;D ;D

Thats another thing, when it was wet last week I went through a ma-hoo-sive puddle (lake) and expected the worse, yet I didnt even notice a splutter.
Oh, another plus for Lada's- Cold starts on freezing mornings- starts like its the middle of summer!
Has anyone got any idea how many of these are left in the UK? Ive seen a couple of estates on ebay, but no saloons. I'm guessing there will be more estates left than saloons but I wouldnt be suprised if the amount of saloons left doesnt go much higher than double figures. I don't EVER recall seeing one on the road and it would explain peoples reaction to it. Also, ive just made contact with someone who used to rally ladas in the 80's and earley 90's who decided last year to start again. After a year of searching for a saloon he couldnt find one so he settled for a Sunbeam, and he's selling his lada stuff to me, which rocks BIG TIME!
Which leads me to ask, what are the chances that my car is almost unique in this country? How many ARE left?

Theyve all been scrapped now. Zero "on the road" value, high scrap steel prices and their seemingly average life span of approx 5 years have all hit them hard. Gone the same way as F.S.O,s........ Shame, like alot of cars when they were plentyful they were "curse word", now they're gone they're cool!
