You know you are in Missouri if you head out on the highway on a Friday night, beer in hand and this is your ride. Dennis again. Craig the hapless passenger. Dennis just bought this spares car in Michigan this week, to help rebuild the one in the Video. Known for their winters and salted roads. I am sure he knows what he is doing

Through the years I have known Dennis, a lot of stuff changes between visits. Remember a few years ago when craigrk went with me on his first USA road trip? The Friday night Dennis took Craig out on the motorway in this Chevelle that he has to build for Debbie. The Chevelle had lived in a lean to, unfinished workshop behind the main shop, dirt floors and a load of spares, quad bike and machines all piled in there over time. Dennis’ son Adam also built a very large “ShopHouse on an adjoining property, the house complete, walls etc for the shop all ready, along with plumbing, power etc. So now, after a few years, Adam was ready to cast the floor, as he recently bought himself an airplane, as you do when cars and bikes just won’t do. So Dennis started to unpack the spare shop, and took a few truckloads loads of “stuff” away I suspect it would have killed me to watch good stuff go….. So the dirt floor was graded, prepped etc before damp course, steel and the rest was laid down. In typical Dennis style though, they managed to hit the sewerage system which then needed to be repaired. After clearing the space….. In the mean time Dennis did a day long “Turn and Burn” trip to Detroit to go fetch a spares car for the Chevelle rebuild. So this week the floors were cast for both workshops…… 5-6” thick, reinforced concrete. Dennis’ place ready. This was truck no 3 at Adams shop, more came in of course. I guess now the fun will become bigger and more over there. Looking forward to the next trip to the colonies to inspect progress.

Thats nice floor space. I need to move to the proper countryside before I'm too old to make use of the space properly.... This is often the case, we wait too long, and then live long enough to regret the things we never did. I have some reservations about my life choices, but no regrets, except for not doing some stuff sooner. Dennis messaged me earlier……….. Door and window is in. Close a few holes next.

And speaking of regrets…….. Sometimes we choose not to react fast enough. I have been through Siloam Springs and visited there a few times including lunch last year with friends Mike and Sarah Losh who own Sloshtubz Today this gem was in the market for $1600.00 1968 model, 318ci motor, that runs and moves under its own steam.

The 60's and 70's saw some stunning motorhomes being built in the states with some very innovative designs and engineering. The Travco was one of them (not the engineering, it's a truck chassis). My favourite (which I can't remember the name of) had a rear mounted BMW engine and a very low monocoque construction, designed by an aeronautical engineer. Get it shipped over Grizz!

Get it shipped over Grizz! I don't think so. If he's going to buy it (if doesn't already have) it will stay in the USA and be his annual Roadtripper.

Get the pics and post them up mate. I did speak with Mike but he is away from home, doing the “Battleinbama” truck show, selling customs stuff from his business. And by the time we managed to get to each other, the camper was sold. These vintage rigs do not hang around when for sale. This is him and his wife’s life…….

Parked at Dennis’ place near St Louis, Missouri. For anyone to use, as long as everyone keeps it maintained. It would have been bought if possible, but there will always be another, maybe not 300 miles away, needing recovery.

But at a time, 1968 , when racing was not part of holiday travel, the one door would not be a handicap. I would love to dedicate my three weeks to getting it sorted and cleaned. It can be done.

That, is so 'you' ! got to be done , good hunting I am sure Dennis will say “Hell yes, we will fetch it” They were going to fetch that orange camper in Colorado for me, but it sold so fast. The price was so right, despite not having a title. The “search” continues.
