Would a less drastic way be to modify the current door hinge to go further and open wider? Again making it easier to get close but not being such a radical car alteration? Me getting in is not the problem it stowing the wheelchair from a position only reachable from standing next to the drivers door of a 4 door saloon. A saloon the size of a ford orion!

I remember seeing somewhere a conversion for a car (auto) where it had an accelerator on either side of the brake and when you pushed on one the other one lifted out of the way so it could be driven by anyone, might be worth looking into? I've just found this one, might be of interest? www.jeffgosling.co.uk/products/twin-folding-left-foot-accelerator

When I was in the trade in the early 80-'s we had a customer who had the brake and accelerator pedals swapped over on a Triumph Acclaim auto. I also recall on car SOS a a stag, i think, where it had accelerator pedals (L&R)that could be flipped out of the way so a non-disabled driver could use it without changing driving action.

Be good to have a car which can easily be swapped around When I worked in car demonstrator delivery some years ago one of the other drivers had a pretty serious accident when as an able-bodied individual he got tangled up in the additional controls and couldn’t stop! They banned us from driving adapted cars then, they had to go out on a trailer

It's quite a neat solution, you pull one accel pedal down, and the other flips up out the way. The brake stays where it is.
