My mgf will come back out April time
So I’m definitely going to try classic line for that one
Will stay with greenlight for the escort van
My daily I’ve just insured with budget insurance first time I’ve tried them but I’ll give them a go .......oh and one other thing that really grates with me is some gurning insurance MD spouting off in classic car mags and papers telling us how wonderful a particular car is and how there company loves that model....yea ok I don’t believe a word you have to say so please save it , you really don’t know anything about most classic cars and sadly the owners needs

No real complaints but you have to opt out of the auto renewal which was three times higher than it should have been.. |

I've had the cars relevant to Retro Rides with the same insurance company for yonks - the years with Peter James must be into double digits. They send me a renewal and I pay. Works well for both of us! The van (15 years old, so modern?) gets moved around for cheap quotes. I joined this latest company in the middle of December. I had to provide the normal NCD discount info and DVLA license code at the start. A few emails were sent to me saying I hadn't uploaded my stuff but took it as paths crossing etc. On 16th Jan I get the following text message, "We are due to CANCEL your insurance. To avoid cancellation please call us". Bum squeaks, I expect to not be able to get through to them on a Saturday but do and they want mileage photos. An email says the same and I have 7 days to send it, but doesn't say where to send it. Anyhoo, it's sent, no big deal. Bit heavy handed and poor communication from them but no bother. Yesterday I get a text message, "We are due to CANCEL your insurance. To avoid cancellation please call us". This time they want a copy of a valid MOT certificate. They've also sent the same email as before stating I've not sent requested documents, despite this threat (?) being the first mention of it and no details of how or where to send it. The issue is I don't have one as I've been working on the engine top end so missed the date. I can't help feeling they're trying to grab policy money and work a way to get you off their books with demands and short time limits. I'll be calling them and writing an official complaint tomorrow. The policy says nothing of needing an MOT and if it did it'd be the only company I know of who cancel a policy if a car fails.... Anyhoo, I fancied a moan to kill time whilst my mum gets a Covid jab. It's OK, I'm in the Acclaim so this has retro content! 🤣 Stuff like this really makes you appreciate the better companies! Sounds like my experience with eCar years ago, except the only way to make contact was to wait on a premium rate number for hours. I ended up driving to Bristol and doorstepping them. |
