Does anyone know if the XJ40 shares the same steering column as the X300 Jaguar XJ6?
I'm trying to find a boss/Hub kit to fit a steering wheel but nothing is coming up for the X300, I really would prefer not to have to have one made because I suspect that would be mega bucks.
I was hoping someone might have or know of one of those handy "shared components" charts where it will tell me the same steering column is also found on a similar era ford or something which has a boss readily available off the shelf.
Cheers

Got curious, so had a look on my works laptop. X300 and XJ40 upper steering column part numbers are different but there look to be more changes than just wheel fitment. Curiously for the XJ40 there are some "Steering Wheel adaptors" listed with different spline counts Googled one of the part numbers and got this forum post which seems to suggest it may have been different markets had different splines? www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=65341Also that thread mentions XJS, but I guess there's a fair chance the spline count on the XJ40 changed when airbags were introduced or when Ford took over. Not entirely all useful information but might help? Edit: If I'd read further down that forum post it does explain about XJS/XJ40 column differences and airbag intro, doesn't mention X300 though

Thanks adam73bgt, it could work out very useful if I can count the teeth on mine and it mirrors up with one or the other and I can get a measurement of size of the shaft (oh er mrs!) Cheers.

A bit more digging revealed that 76 teeth is for the U.S market only U.K cars were all 86 however I don't know if that extended to the X300.

I would imagine there isnt a huge amount of demand for wheel bosses, as aren't all the X300 Jags equipped with an airbag in the steering wheel? And most gentleman owners don't want to faff with their own Jaag

And most gentleman owners don't want to faff with their own Jaag There doesn't appear to be any for the X300, I was hoping more that being it was a Ford era Jag it might share a column with something ford for which a boss is available. I like to consider myself a gentleman but alas my Jaguar is on the brink of being faffed with, big time. Sorry

This is the xjs one, The inside diameter is around 18.5 mm and a quite a fine pitch spline, there is also a internal taper on the back.
