Bought a mk3 honda civic drunken, on eBay and awoke to a flood of emails saying I had won it for 77 quid
Guy selling thought the engine was on it's way but it was only a tappet. It had 77 in the number plate and 77,000 miles and it was the most reliable, dependable car - it even had adjustable rear seats! Once I had my fun I sold it for 777!

I guess one of my lucky cars is my Peugeot 406.
Found it on eBay in the Vehicle parts and accessories section.
Won the auction blind without much of a description and no MOT for the princely sum of £99
Passed the mot requiring just 2 bulbs
Managed to pick up a genuine Peugeot detachable towbar for £40 (a very rare option back in 98)
Fitted some new brakes at my mates garage in Hampshire, bolted everything back on and drove back to South East London. Funny vibration getting worse but press on regardless. Then on the A20 heading slightly up hill the nearside wheel makes it's bid for freedom having sheared 3 of the 4 wheel bolts. Off it goes bouncing against the Armco once, twice then over and down the embankment. car drops onto the brand new brake disc and grinds to a halt on the nearside lane (no hard shoulder). Jump out, have a quick assessment and grab the jack and spare from the boot. Two bolts snapped at disc level, one had a good few mm left poking out and the other was gone completely. Managed to get the remaining one out leaving me 2 bolt holes opposite each other! Spare on, I walk to the end of the armco (15m along) down the bank and find the wheel, centre cap still attached and broken bolts rattling inside (spacer long gone).
Trundle the 2 miles home and drop it in the garage. They remove the 2 sheared bolts and inspect everything, clean bill of health not threads damaged, disc fine, no adverse effects!!
How on earth it lasted the A3 and M25 without failing I'll never know! Outside lane and 70mph (actually wasn't much faster due to the vibration) and it failed going uphill (so no out of control swerving, and the wheel went off safely in a quiet place)
Has given pretty much faultless service since (although will be selling it soon if my bidding comes off this weekend....)
