However its looks I feel let it down. Its for sale for 2 weeks on the Irish Escort website/facebook.
Not so much as a text.......
So.
I am thinking of painting it/soundproofing it???

FORD MK1 ESCORT ESTATE (2dr)
1972
Only 4 owners from new. Have brown book.
Originally a Tipperary car.
BODY:
Painted in satin black.
Competition type front panel with vent holes.
Mexico/RS type front arches.
Rolled rear arches.
Alloy bonnet pins. (No FORD letters fitted but they go with the car)
Very rare, centre mounted, washer jets. (Unplumbed but have hoses)
RS type wiper aerofoils x2.
Fully dismantled wiper motor assembly ready to go back together and the original is in the car.
Set of spare glass to go with the car also.
Later, more attractive FORD script hatch handle. (Have the boring blank original if you want it, but why you might?.....)
Door locks/ignition on 1 key. Set of spare keys available. Plus one uncut blank to match doors/ignition.
All new weather-stripping/seals except hatch glass seal (but its now available again I’m told)
New headlights (H4’s) and headlight buckets (mini) fitted.
Good indicators and rear lens.
Modern (hidden) horn so car looks right, but it’s nice and loud.
INTERIOR.
6 dial 130mph clocks (very very rare) with top to match (needs to be re-covered)
Mk2 Rs glove box fitted to keep things out of sight of the light fingered.
Seats. Rears are original black vinyl rear (they fold down to make it a huge load carrier!) and black ½ leather Recaro’s in front (Originally Toyota Mr2 and very comfy, hold you well.)
New, inertia type, seat belts (Front only, the Mk1 never had rear belts)
Good fuel filler cover, hinge cover and spare wheel covers. (Prove to cracking)
New un-fitted (East Kent Trim) headliner. Bars included in sale.
Black door cards/rear trim.
Line-Lock on trans tunnel. (Locks front wheels to help warm rear tyres if you wish)
Very early heater cover.
Springalex steering wheel (genuine & I have a new centre for it that needs fitting)
Very early rear-view mirror
Heater works well and fan blows well.
Also have a transmission tunnel mounted, alloy switch panel if you want it, with fusebox and flick switches.
RUNNING GEAR.
RS radiator (Re-cored x3 row) with big header tank.
RS 2000 front struts with lowered spring seats (lowers car without ruining handling)
Brand new GAZ short body, adjustable inserts (shocks)
NEW Mk2 quick steering rack with zero miles, (Have both alloy & steel mounts for this.)
Adjustable, rose jointed, track control arms. Need rubber bootsneeded (€6) as I split them doing the rack ☹
Wilwood 4 pot alloy calipers/pads/vented discs/braided lines
Group 4 Fabrications pedal-box with new cylinders.
New Group 4 Fabrications fluid bottles/hoses/clamps.
Twin cam Anti-roll bar with correct mounts and double width clamps (GRP4 Fab) all poly bushed.
Rear has Mk2 single leaf springs with narrowed mounts. Poly bushed. (Have spare rubber bushes if you want them)
2” alloy lowering blocks.
New, longer, U-bolts.
AVO adjustable shocks.
Narrowed axle by Declan Munnelly.
Rear has 3.77 Lotus/Mexico gears on a Quaife ATB LSD new bearings etc. All built by Reggie Britton.
New axle bearings fitted.
Correct FORD Anti Tramp Bars fitted.
New brake shoes/cylinders fitted.
Braided flexible brake lines.
Wheels are widened (Banded) FORD wheels. Front are 7”x13 while the rears are 9’5”x13 (hence narrowed axle) Set of Ford escort 1100 hubcaps PLUS a set of Lotus hubcaps with car.
Dunlop SP Sport 2000 175/50/13 tyres.

Tunnel modified to fit type 9.
Quaife type 9 quickshifter.
Grp 4 fabrications one piece propshaft.
Custom exhaust, loud but not obnoxious.
Corsa B power steering unit with modified Mk1 lower column available.
Electronic power steering module and adjuster, brand new never fitted.
The Mk1 steering wheels slips right on to this and the P/S can be mounted hidden if you wish.
OVERVIEW
I’ve owned this car for over 10 years. However. Since my crash (2015) I can’t look after it myself. Neither can I afford to pay to have it maintained as I have found most places don’t do the work well.
It was featured in RETROFORD Magazine a few years back and a copy of the magazine is included.
This is a very stealthy car as people do not expect an estate to be either quick or handle.
And it does both.
It has an extremely good shell. The sill ends are the only repairs it has needed. Still has original Ford steel everywhere else.
The car is VERY low. But the suspension still works and the exhaust is raised so it drives well.
I took it on The Blacksod Run earlier this year and it was grand.
Will be sold with the spares mentioned already and anything else I spot in the garage.
Needs painting if you don’t like black and a washer bottle fitting to be a good useable, rare and desirable classic ESCORT.
I took the steering out to fit to P/S so it’s not driving at the moment but will be very soon. The P/S is mostly fitted and would be if my welder hadn’t gone t*ts up.
UPDATE. Back on standard steering column and driving.
