Only just found out this exists, perfect for 80/90's retro's. Tempting for my mk2, my only gripe is the lack of cd option (all my music is still on cd lol) Looks like it's about £399, so not exactly cheap but a nice option to have. Has dab, 2xusb, Bluetooth, and loads of pre-outs Also has other backlight colour options to match your dashboard www.blaupunkt.com/en/nc/products/car-multimedia/car-radio/products/single/19059/

That is a nice move in recognition of the retro movement! Well done to Blaupunkt and as it would be a low volume unit for them, the price is pretty fair imho

There must be quite a niche market for aftermarket car audio these days as virtually every car from the last 10 years came with a decent sound system as standard, and most of them integral to the dashboard. They must have recognised it's only the retro end of the market that can actually use a new head unit.

That looks ace but damn that price tag is insane Expensive, yes. Insane. I wouldn't say so. IMHO a decent headunit has always been around the £200ish mark, and Alpine's and Kenwood's offerings are that much cheaper these days. If you are after true audiophile quality, then the price really does become crazy. Anyway, compared to it's competition, the Blaupunkt isn't too bad: www.theslshop.com/parts-shop/becker-mexico-retro-7942.htmlThe coolest retro HU with modern touches, but at £3.7k, you'd need a lottery win or a very very valuable car to justify one! It would look great in my Merc, but damn, that's pricey! RetroSound's offering with DAB? £300: www.amazon.co.uk/Barbara-Classic-Becker-Digital-Bluetooth/dp/B07CVHXP46/ref=pd_sbs_107_t_1/259-2863035-0122056?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07CVHXP46&pd_rd_r=5cfbc4d2-fc1e-44b6-8cf4-fef5d9020fa7&pd_rd_w=ZjsiU&pd_rd_wg=IItn4&pf_rd_p=e44592b5-e56d-44c2-a4f9-dbdc09b29395&pf_rd_r=ADGDZBCN6ZYMBCW9J32G&psc=1&refRID=ADGDZBCN6ZYMBCW9J32GA limited production will also always drive the cost up due to manufacturing, sourcing and logistics factors.

As much as I like my music I refuse to pay big money for things when there really is no need. Whilst I can see there that headunit will be suited, a Pioneer P77mp will always be my choice. Great looks, a stunning sound and soooo many options for adjustment. Ive recently decided to do a bit of upgrading to my home hifi to find that, if I wanted too, I could pay £1700 for a pair of 5m speaker cables. I wont, I simply cant get my head around it, but it does make you think again about how much you could spend if you REALLY went for it.
