Advice please
I need a small torque converter transaxle auto transmission good for 150 bhp and 300 ft lbs. High stall speed, no electronics, no CVTs, would help if it could be flipped if the motor ends up revolving the wrong way.
Thanks in anticipation.

Aside from the flip bit, only one that comes to mind is Porsche 928 which might do? Might be a bit light on the torque figure though.
Sadly not that small..

Must be something available from the Audi stable, though once again the “flip” might be an issue. A4s, A6s and A8s all come with the right layout if you want the engine ahead of the trans.
I guess some of the later Corvettes might fit the bill too?
Any more clues?

Ah..... might rpm be an issue? Or does it have a reducer?

Ah..... might rpm be an issue? Or does it have a reducer? Nick It will do. Max rpm seen by the box 5,500/6,000 rpm.

Reducer might provide an opportunity to correct the rotation direction? Single stage reversed direction and two stage maintains it. But no doubt you’ve already thought about this......

For me that means you need to go back into the 1980’s/early 90’s? In fact that’s a thought - Audi 80/90 turbo (non-Quattro)? One does think of the infamous Renault 25 transaxle as fitted to many a GT40 replica but I wonder if there are any auto ones left?

What about Volvo 340s, I'm sure they had a transaxle, don't know about autos though. Renault 25(?) I think had a transaxle too. Not 100% on either of those, just getting a feeling. Edit, I see Phil above ahs mentioned the R25.

Audi 80/90 turbo (non-Quattro) I suspect this will be your easiest route. How about a Subaru FWD? - can't imagine they're plentiful...

Just tried to find a pic of a R25 one and found they (certainly later ones) have an ECU for the gearbox so that’s a no?

I can run the gas turbine without a box as the free turbine acts a torque converter but it's like driving a single speed milk float. I may just have to go for a manual and be prepared to replace the clutch on a regular basis but as it's only likely to see a few shows and track/hillclimbs a handful of time per year it shouldn't be a big problem.

Forgot the non-electronic part...... Audi100/200 and maybe 90 then. Also 80s 5-pot Passat.

What about a slider clutch and manual gearbox? I don't know of any autos that fit the bill. A guy brings flipped/2WD converted Subaru gearboxes to us for cleaning I'll ask if he knows any autos that can be done.
Another thought - is the Centreline of the output shaft higher up than a conventional engine (like a Wankel)? If so could you a conventional auto then a 4x4 transfer box and diff to get the power to the wheels?

audi/boxster tiptronic, pretty much the same inside as the bmw boxes. Some electronics, but controllers should be available
