Just searched the General, Readers Rides and For Sale sections for any of these CR-V’s on here.
Not one.
I know it will be Honda reliable, boring and then some.
But ownership speaks volumes too.
This one is a 2.0 litre manual petrol car with 140k miles, and an all important towbar
Anything to say about them??

I had one
Dependable as anything as expected
Can't really think of many bad points to be honest.
The rear diff takes special oil and should be replaced every couple of years. It wont have been so you may get a juddering on full lock. Simple fix!
Engine has actual adjustable tappets, so bear any noise in mind.
They rot around the rear arches. Took me a while to find one that wasn't

To me! I've been driving it for about a month so don't have a huge depth of experience but I'm loving it so far. I like the elevated driving position on the daily commute. Dynamically it won't set your pants on fire but it's not unpleasant to drive. Loads of space for stuff / dogs / people. The heaters are really decent like all 90s Hondas seem to be. Cabin is light and airy. A W-reg will be the later Mk1.5 with 147 bhp rather than the 120-odd my 1998 one comes with, so it will shift along at a reasonable pace. The AWD helps on slippery roads, I've felt the rear end grip a couple of times when navigating a rain and diesel-slick roundabout, I'm sure it'll be handy in the coming months.

So it sounds to me like all in the family. That’s a good thing. The one I have found for sale is £500.00 Guy can’t get it insured, and he wants more green lane and off road ability it seems. Claims last owner before his 30 days so far, had it 11 years and was 80. 141k Miles, and looking at the MOT history, light bulb fails etc, only three times. I am waiting to hear back from him. Would buy it and sell Prozac on, as it has a tow hitch, and is a bit more eager than the 1.4 probably is, despite being an awesome little car,

We ran the diesel MK2 but also sourced a petrol MK 2 for a family member. With the 2L vtec it was brisk and a happy car. The MK 2 is a fantastic practical car with side tailgate etc. Loved it. Would expect 30mpg ish. Parts for the UK-built MK2 were easy to get but I think it sold a lot better than the MK1 so might be worth looking into it. James

I bought a 1 year old one ( 51 plate) back in the day. It was a VERY VERY good car, spacious, quick, handled well and lovely to drive. I also tested a new Freelander before I bought it. Nuff said..

Is it a mk1 or mk2? I had a 2004 SE Auto, great car & dispite being on non winter tyres didnt get it stuck & unexpectedly got it up my dads drive in the snow - ive had car's struggle to do that in the dry!
If it's a mk2 I have a HRV clock & adapted stereo lead so you can retain a clock & fit an aftermarket stereo - can do a you a good deal lol.
Click my sig thing and some point in 2014 a CRV appears.

I've got a CRV MK2 SE Sport (2L pre facelift). Did look at the Mk1 but the lack of an OBD2 put me off, plus rust. They have a weird LED thing where you count the flashes for fault codes. Everyone seems to have a nightmare with it! Best looking asthetically though!
I use my MK2 daily to transport 100+ dogs a week. All round town driving with occasional offroad. I've had it 3 years and I've never been stuck in snow/mud, failed an MOT or had a break down.
Apart from an oil change every 8-10k and a crank sensor (EML flickered, didn't actually breakdown).
Low 30s MPG. I run 34 PSI instead of Hondas 26PSI which made MPG way better. From what I've read, the petrols are not the best tow car for a caravan, but ok for towing cars + trailer (depending on the roads).
Hope this helps!!

It seems as though trying to buy anything in the cheaper end of the spectrum is just hard work. It seems a miracle that any of these people manage to sell anything at all! Poor attitudes, lack of response, just poor service. I’ve learnt that if leaving a message or dropping an email, to send the shortest message possible initially, then build up to the questions slowly.

I was having this conversation with craigrk this morning at 05.00 as I woke at 02.20 and that was my night over. This car is in Shepway, Maidstone........ When I told Sally, she sucked through her teeth last night. Anyway, you seem to be right. I may have asked too much for the brain cells to process, but then he has not even looked at my questions since I asked on Messenger at 7.40pm last night. Based on the fact he says he cannot afford to insure it in his one response to me, it may be that he bought it, and just needs to move it on, he wanted to use it off-road. The photos he sent suck too. Still, I would like to buy it, based on MOT history and what can be seen. Has a TOWBAR too. Holding my breath......

Company I do some contracting work for has a 2.4 Exec VTEC one - Mk2 flavour. Very capable car if slightly utilitarian.
