We have two, lost both keys but they are on a shelf in the garage unlocked. So how can I change the barrel? Disclok do it for £35 each if the silver button isn't pressed in but mine are so they cant re barrel it.
Bit poor for such an expensive product? The challenge is open this tinter web thing has no mention of DIY repairs / mods with judging at some of the mad stuff on Youtube I am quite surprised at so off to then shed with the cobalt drills lets see if I can rebarel it my self?

Before getting agricultural on it, wouldn't a decent automotive locksmith be able to help?

We have two exceptionally well rated ones nearby, one has never tried the other tells me even if I can open it I won't get a barrel They are well made did some test holes to look around inside no wonder people have difficulty removing them when fitted

If you’ve got two, i’d be seriously considering scrapping/sacrificing one to see how it works, to make repair of the second possible? If you can actually get a barrel out, getting a key cut to match shouldn’t be difficult?

Its designed to be near impossible to get off (all bar using a grinder). If it was easy to get the barrel out in the locked position, it rather defeats the object does it not.

Bit poor as in customer service at that price I would have expected to be able to get them re barelled, The locks excellent I am currently trying to remove the barrel and its top quality hardened steel putting up a good fight

Bookmarked, I have 2 of these locks and rate them highly. Will be interested to see if I've missed any obvious weak points.

These days, as Moderns become easier to steal than people thought (OBD + RF tampering), they're the only real defence an owner has against a thief.

Having tried to remove the barrel they are very good, juts wish I could get more re barrelled instead of having to buy a new one.

Having tried to remove the barrel they are very good, juts wish I could get more re barrelled instead of having to buy a new one. Why not attack it in the workshop with a slitting disc to give access to remove the barrel then weld it all back together? Doesn't matter if it takes you 1/2 an hour with a 9" grinder in this instance and weld tends to be hard so you probably aren't causing a weak spot.

I think that's my only option, I was working on it but then wasn't well for a couple of months so its fell off the to do list but I will get back to it, the steel is very hard even a cobalt drill was struggling

I'm all for saving stuff that could be used again, but is this false economy when you weigh up the cost of drill bits/electricity/keys/time/etc?
I say this as I've bought 3 used Diskloks over the last few years. Average price was around £30 each and they were bought locally through eBay or gumtree. Each of them had at least 2 keys and the sellers reason for selling was always that the lock didn't fit the steering wheel on their new car.

But do Disklok sell just the barrel and new key on its own to joe public or are the locks themselves available elsewhere?
I'm pretty sure they only do it themselves if as already stated the button isn't pushed in or you have the code tag. So if you cut it open and removed the barrel and re welded it, I cant seem them wanting to fit a new lock to a cut and shut. Plus of course the cost posting of it back and forwards.
Bit of lost cause i think unless the barrels and keys are available elsewhere does anyone know?
