my e39, i want to spray the underside in some form of wax oil type stuff. In my head it wants to be able to cope with any damp that is still there, and be able to be sprayed on and last a bit. I think it would have to be thin. I have some of the DINITROL PENETRANT LT CAVITY wax, and that looks maybe what could be good, but I'm not sure..
can someone suggest please?

Dinitrol does a couple of underbody waxes. You want those rather than cavity wax.
That said unless the car is perfect waxyol does the job very well for alot less. Dinitrol in the cavitys and copious waxyol on the rest..

ive got waxoil here, on other cars i heated it up really well, then i have a gravity spray gun i used to use. I'm a little worried i will trap moisture in that is my problem?
thanks for the reply

Yeh. I think it's all the same tho. The more you prep it the better the results will be theres no magic product.

For a budget cavity solution I mix waxoyl with new engine oil, oil so it never dries out, like when a car has a long lasting oil leak, waxoyl to give it thickness to stay in place, it seems to work very well after a few years of doing it. No good for underbody, but I don't think waxoyl lasts underbody anyway.
I've recently started to use bilt hamber, their underbody stuff seems very good and reasonably priced. Very runny going on for good penetration, then it semi sets.

Straight waxoyl on the underbody gives pretty good protrection, but it does stay sticky so attracts dirt and it neeeds redoing every year or 2, I recently used a bilt hamber one which dried with a much harder skin.

As said above Bilt Hamber range is worth a look. You'd be best cavity waxing all the box sections with an extendable nozzle rather than just spraying the underside as cars tend to rot from the innards out. I used DInitrol in the sills of my Mk2 about 10 years back and their black underbody coating (4941 I think?). It's still waxy although one of the sills did need rust repair recently. The black underside has largely gone but not bad going really! Having used all sorts of rubberised sprays etc I personally don't like them anymore. Currently restoring the underside with Epoxy Mastic and 2k Raptor liner for a tougher finish but it's a lot more work for sure!

thanks for the replies! I have done the sills inside with dinitrol penatrant stuff as i had a water leak from the fuse box that filled the sill up with about 10 ltr of water! when i realised and drilled an outlet home, the water was clear not brown.
Its just underneath, ive done the back arches with the 4941 stuff i think it is, but just wanted to get something that will be able to be sprayed in under the axel etc where i cant get to and not trap the moisture in.
Want to keep the car, its really good atm
