Friday 23rd August, about 2pm a pair of traveller thieving bastards drove into my mates' parents' yard between Yeovil and Sherborne and hitched up our 14ft Ifor Williams twin axle trailer with my spare Capri shell on it and drove off. It wasn't strapped to the trailer, and the bonnet wasn't attached to the car, so I'm still hoping that it came loose enough to cause a memorable incident somewhere nearby.
The trailer's a 14ft Ifor Williams twin axle flatbed trailer, with a hand winch in the front bulkhead, ramps under the bed, and the sides removed but under the car - again unsecured when they took it. The tail board of the trailer is really tatty, and the floor boards are pretty ruined.
The case reference with Dorset police is I22:0327

Sad to say it but they might be at the Great Dorset Steam Fair, unfortunately the show attracts a number of undesirables

The gate was open as there were people about though not within eyesight. Brass ones on them, they drove in and hitched it up as if they owned it, and shot off pronto.
I'm heading up there in the morning, doubt I'll see anything useful though. They won't have it on a stall I reckon!
I'm trying to remember my imgurdetails to posta pic up.

Back in the 90s a guy had a rare motorbike nicked from a display tent at the show, he spent the next day looking around the autojumble & found parts of his bike spread over three stalls in a row!
They stole it & stripped it overnight.
Honiton Hill rally is on over the bank holiday weekend too

So, got a phone call from the fuzz, someone had mentioned a car in a bush to someone else (possibly the owner of said bush) who thought that maybe it was an odd place for a car. I duly went and had a look, and it turns out to be my car, minus the front Recaros and the front wheels (which were in the boot) and the rear wheel nuts... as I realised when a wheel fell off as I was pulling it out of the bush. It looks like they'd started trying to take the easily-sellable lumps off, so good that I got there as soon as possible. Other than that, little damage, so I'm pretty pleased. No sign of the ropy trailer it was on, but hey ho. Luckily I had a little crane about my person, so I took it back home without incurring any monstrous recovery fees. Result!

Good news you managed to get there before the police recovery, a miracle in fact as they usually have them on the way before they let the owner know....

always good to see them back. I wonder if it was the original thieves that tried to remove the wheels or people who found it there? You get a nice police aware sticker to add to the car's history too.

The trailer was ropy, and not specifically insured, so no joy there. I'm just chuffed to have the car back. Been putting in lots more security/gates etc. Nothing like hindsight eh?!

Hi, Methinks it was the trailer they were after, the car was an added bonus. Which is why they offloaded it and took easy to remove bits.
