I bought this back in February so my 17 year old son could learn to drive as he was uninsurable on the Volvo V70. It had about 90k on the clock and the MoT history was ok (L6UAH if you want to look it up)
I used it to commute to work in the day and to take the lad driving in the evenings. All was well, it had a service about 3 months ago where the garage said it had been looked after with all the brake bolts having copperslip on them etc.
Last month I put 2 new rear tyres on it (£120ish for GoodYears) and put it through the MoT which it passed after some dithering over headlight aim and a windscreen washer jet). There were advise points on the brakes but I reckon there’s another 3 months on them easily.
He spotted some rust on the front as an advise but I couldn’t see it. There was an advise last year for rust on the rear but it wasn’t noticed this year.
To sum up, it’s not as rusty as most.
Just after it passed the MoT a tiny top end rattle started which by the time I’d found somewhere safe to pull in had turned into a very loud rattle. I guess there was oil starvation somewhere because the oil is clean and the filter change was recent. It’s really not drivable for anything other than onto a trailer.
It’s got the chrome roll bar hoop but otherwise it’s poverty spec or “track spec” as I’d like to call it. No air con, no electric mirrors, no central locking... All you get is electric windows and a 5 speed gearbox with the 1.8 engine. Or you would if it worked.
The paintwork lacquer is scuffed on the drivers side rear wing but otherwise it’s not too bad cosmetically. I’d like £300, car is in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, MK45
