So we made it to Fayetteville and Clem and Kim received us like long lost family, the animals too. ..... Hi guys, By now you've all realised that I am actually on the trip, I thought I'd contribute a few of the choice quotes that came out along the way. I wish I had a tape recorder running all the time, as the hilarity of some of the comments made is certainly diminished in the writing. While shooting the breeze with Clem & Kim, we got onto the topic of Clem's 10 year old plus flip phone (which the phone company refuses to repair and claims won't work next year). Clem derided our smart phones as our "Brains" and made a remark about Big Brother watching us. Dennis immediately replied with: "Well, anyone watching me is going to be bored as shee-iiittt!!!"

... After this we all headed back to Fayetteville for more beer and food later. .... Another classic Dennis quote:Back at the Gas Station, Clem asks: "Guys what do you want to do tonight?"Dennis in his dry drawl: "I think we might driiiiink....."Needless to say, a fair amount of beer, margaritas and tequila shots were disposed of that evening... Clem only brings out the good stuff, which is appreciated!!

Next morning we were all up early. Dennis and Clem were sanding on stakebed wood strips. While they went on there, craigrk and Adam carried on with insulating the new building walls as Clem and Kim had fallen behind on that job, while entertaining us all. The Mexican contractors who were doing the ply lining of the shop obviously could not proceed till insulation was completed. So by 9.00 am we headed out to The Farmers Table for breakfast. Locally sourced, fresh produce only served. Outside this grabbed my eye. At about this time Sally sent a report to say Harley was doing fine. Table in the garden. Nice restaurant gardens too, Just different. After the last few days of overindulged living, I decided to go lighten up my order. Bacon, fried egg, Pepperjackmcheese and Texas onions on bread. And to wrap up breakfast, wholesome Hannah was prepared to show herself to you guys in a pic with me ๐ Then we headed out toward the Pig Trail Ride route toward Oark More later.

Man this sh!t is taking a lot of time to write up.
I think next year Craig and I should consider a few GoPro cameras and do some video blogging in stead.
But it does allow me to drink beer in the lobby of the hotel we are in tonight, in Independence, Kansas.
High speed internet seems to be best out here.

... Outside this grabbed my eye. For the Chevy truck fans out there, I asked Clem if he thought he could do a big rear window conversion on this. He graciously declined...

5 men in a Dually headed into rural Arkansas Last year, Ray in Iowaโs wife Eve, who rides her own Harley Davidson has suggested we come back and ride the Pig Trail on bikes. Canopied mountain roads, with narrow precipitous roads, sheer drops and cliffs either side, miles of no car passing. Yet, we were headed out in a Ford Dually...... Looking at the rear view mirrors over Clems shoulder, I could see Adam was using all the permitted road to his disposal. Interesting Narrow bridges. We stopped here for some refreshments nd a pee break. Always watch out. Craig had already suffered a sting on Friday night. New to me. On the way we stopped in a town called Oark to look for vintage, antiques etc. Look at the size of these shoes. Another use for license plates. Door counter top. Next overpriced shop...... $300.00 for a steel horse, I recently sold one for ยฃ45.00 Then we left again. Lovely low rider...... Naaahh,,, rear airbags exploded Inside. And again........ Clocked out. One of Clems old stashes has been discovered and poked clean. Still, imagine an old Airstream on the back of this. Then time for lunch..... Food again.

Ha, I was ready this time. I'm sick of seeing pictures of food, normally when I'm peckish so today, I didn't open the thread until I was eating. Three of MaccyD's finest sausage muffins, which, in my opinion, are the only thing they make that's fit for human consumption! Not quite the same, but it'll have to do!

Some history So the restaurant we decided to go for lunch was also the only one. Guest greeter Note the tractor at the gas pump. After filling up and paying for gas, the young lass was off down the road again. Country living for sure. Gun ownership encouraged. I ordered a burger, really good. One of the things I had also done was to convince Bobbie, or lovely waitress that Clem and Dennis were twins and that it was their birthday. So she said that they got to get FREE PIE !!! Next up, she rounded up all the staff, and drew the whole restaurants patronsโ attention, ringing an old cow bell, then proceeded to sing Happy Birthday to the two of them....... followed by raucous applause. So the boys got to choose. There was this fridge........ Menu As part of this continued โGet a Selfie with the waitressโ challenge, I had to of course explain and convince Bobbie to come take a pic with me. I showed her the pic of Kelly at Ethyls on my shoulders a couple of years ago....... Her response was: Ooh, sheโs purdy and she got big tiddies, I donโt have titties like that to rub on your head, but I can give you some lovinโ !Bobbie giving me her loving. Dennis chose Pecan Pie. Clem, the Coconut Cream pie. I got some too. This was an experience and a half, and would only happen on a road trip. Headed out, I saw this victim. I donโt care for Harleyโs, but these simple ones do it for me. Headed back to Fayetteville we were caught up in some roadworks too. Interesting to note was the fact they seemed to just be adding another 4-6โ of asphalt on top of the existing surface. While out, I had bought some castings too. To be used on my Tailgate Bench back home. More drinking, chatting and little food with Clem and Kim the evening back at the gas station. Tomorrow we would be off to go see Andy in Oklahoma Time to hear the comments from the readers now I think. Still got two days of catching up to do. Beer time now. Later.

Morning Grizz and Craig nice update, could you cram all those Hondas into a spare suitcase and bring them back for me please. I think the AMC is a Pacer not a Gremlin, as seen in the film Wayneโs World. Excellent ๐๐ค Love the recycled Volvo btw and you donโt see to many signs like this in North West Leicestershire ๐ Thanks again for the write up. ๐

Pacer! Some neat stuff there. Looking at the rear door on that Studebaker you can see where the designers of the Humber Hawk/Snipe took inspiration.

Been to Andyโs and left again.... . Hereโs todayโs work. Can you say BARNFIND?? Parked up in the early 70โs Last driven and built in the 50โs Chevy and 1950 Ford 2 door. Yup, a lot of dust. Milk truck anyone?? And a water truck. Letโs see what else he has hidden or driving about.

So Wednesday morning dawned, up as usual at stupid-0-clock Clem was in early, started some work and while everyone was doing stuff, I walked around taking some more photos of the yard at Tuba Trucks. Early morning fog. Currently Clem is hugely frustrated with all the piles of storakpge and chaos he has had to create while construction continues. Clem and Otto. Current temporary storage If you look at the Sinclair sign, just be aware that the whole front of the building has been designed by Clem and Kim around this sign. Go back and look again. Otto with two tennis balls in his mouth. Seven coats of ships varnish, takes time to apply, dry, sand and repeat. Hidden treasure RANGE RIDER Mower. Radio Flyer PFFFFTT....!, Try a MERCURY for size. Storage on their sides means no rusting through. One of the two Airstreams survived. The other one sold off. Driveshaft.......

More from Tuba Trucks Restorations. From this sort of thing........ And piles of rusty parts. To this. This And this. When you ask for a full, chassis up rebuild. So after getting things started up, we headed out to The Rolling Pin where John Wayne used to eat....... For a last breakfast. Maddison was our waitress. I liked her, she likes cats ๐ I decided to go for a light breakfast option. Pancake, French toast and some bacon. After all our goodbyes, we headed out toward Oklahoma. Through Siloam Springs where Mike Losh of www.sloshtubz.com and Slosh Tubz lives, he was not in this year, having had to head to Texas for family business. Along the way we stopped for diesel, snacks and the rest. Saw Biltong proudly displayed alongside the Beef Jerky, as well as n the toilets. Also saw it on sale and promotion in Walmart this week. Restaurant Would you go there? Of course with the four of us in the truck, the conversations ranged from mild to wild, and funny as hell. Did I mention the need for a GoPro or three next year??

Eventually got to beyond Tulsa and headed to Andyโs place. Love the rural roads. Once we did all the greeting, Andy, Sharon, Lindsey who is a friend of the family and carer for Sharon, and office assistant for Andyโs business interests, Adam and Dennis plus Craig and Imheaded out for a tour and update of the shop. Before that, Craig had to get a pic for his wife, Lorraine to see his next purchase. The forge. Then into the shop. Many rooms. 1937 Show truck. Fully insured and on the road. How many people own a complete Caboose? Yes, itโs for sale. Dennis and Andy discussing and about to start beating on the trunk lid of the Chevy. At this point we were called in to the house. Lindsey had brought us a kings ransom in BBQ meat, salads, corn on the cob, and a load of other stuff.. So as she sorted lunch, and served us all, she gets a special place of honour. Until I took this photo, I did not realise just how beautiful she is. As I was much more focussed on Andyโs discussions at the table. But this in my opinion is a Selfie worth having. Now leaving Independence Kansas to head out to go look at a bunch of for sale cars by mid day. Later guys.

โJudicious Marksmanshipโ love that on the gun sign lol.
Food looks awesome.
Amazes me how back yards are full of cars and trucks just driven in and left standing. Looks fine but could you imagine that in the UK? Council would be down on you like a tonne of bricks.
What sorta miles are you covering per day to take in all those great experiences?
