Awesome stuff, looks like a great trip! I'm planning a little trip back to the US for early next year COE, what a machine! Would love one myself! I hope your trip is awesome too. The COE will be a reality once Craig gets his ducks in a row. He likes Patina though Mixed feelings. Great report, as ever. Fantastic story and photos, as we expect. Sad loss of a friend. A near 100 -year-old lady in trouble. Mixed feelings. Glad you're home safe and the cat seems reasonably happy. Thanks for the ride. Yes, mixed feelings, this time last year it was Dukey, but life goes on. Harley of course wants all of me, so will she ever be totally happy? Simply awesome, going to the states in Feb next year but it will be a family New York sightseers trip as the kids have never been to the US before but I am seriously looking at Charlotte Motor Speedway the year after to do the Allstar race and visit the NASCAR museum as Iโve been a fan since I was a kid and it will be my 50th. Any tips you could give me closer to the time would be much appreciated. Also love a bit of Quo myself, seen em twice in concert. ๐ค๐ Cheers again for the ride along. Happy to share my limited views, opinions and knowledge I think we have around 900 photos this year, maybe a few more. Thank you for taking so much time and effort to share the trip with us... ๐๐ I've thoroughly enjoyed following along. Looked like you had an amazing time with great people. Great trip for sure. I am eternally grateful to all those who allow me to connect with them, from Sally, to Craig, their extended families and then wider out, airline staff, bus drivers, servers in restaurants, police, State Troopers ๐ Wider out, once we land in the USA my extended family with Dennis, Debbie, all the others..... circling outward like the rings on the surface of a pond, everyone who invited me, Craig and of course anyone who joined us on the trip, those who reached out, opened doors, gates, hearts. This is much more than a holiday, It really becomes a celebration of friendship, where borders no longer exist. I hope we all are better for it, and for those like Kelly and Mo. Late again, been a rough week.

Finally caught up with this last night but only now snatched a moment to post, mainly to say thanks for sharing. Been nice to see a non touristy side to the states, and a lot of rusty gold ๐. Still haven't got over the barn fresh 32 cabriolet ( I guess, not the right screen posts to be a roadster?) and the '50. I do love a shoebox Ford

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

I do love a shoebox Ford Thanks for taking the time to reply Mr Space, or is that okie? ๐ You will find that the other threads from the last four years of travel threads are similar. I get so much more pleasure from animals and humans than faceless tourism. All cars poste are for sale of course. The guy was also the builder and made a life after the Korean War as a photographer, so that build is comprehensively catalogued. Got a comment elsewhere about the size of the Dually and whether it was really needed to be so big, ie. Overkill. So a few pics of normal road use in the USA I think many people have no idea just how vast the USA is. These things loaded to the max will happily come flying past your 80mph on the motorway, it is the norm. No 50cc scooters or Smart cars or similar behind campers, rather full size cars. This specific camper was quite small, of course pop out sides make them more useable once parked up.

Thanks grizz and Craig for allowing me to be the mute co-pilot, the writing and stories are hypnotic and enthralling. If Carlsberg did road trips then you two would be the barmen!!!! Here's to the next big escapade!!

Did you get any parts for your '66 this trip?
Your perspective on the things you post is interesting. There are big trucks everywhere and lots of old rusty iron in need of rescue.
The '62 truck I'm building is old school with the 350 small block. People today seem to build everything with an LS engine.

Here's to the next big escapade!! I would raise one with you then. Next escapade.....?? Should I buy a car..... drive it and try survive whatever 40 years of abuse delivers for me?. Or something random like that? Did you get any parts for your '66 this trip? Your perspective on the things you post is interesting. Thanks for the entertainment along the way. Looks like you had a great trip. Glad to see our fav waitress is ok. You look very light on luggage coming back! Hey Andrew, Yes, luggage sadly did not include a car or truck. I did go look at a 77 Plymouth Sport Fury today, reported elsewhere, but walked away at the price. And yes, Kelly is just lovely.

I will never get how you interact with so many, so deeply. Tis a mystery. But I enjoy watching and reading about it for sure. Glad you had a great trip Rian. Thank you very much, again, mate. I donโt really know the answer to the question, but from a personal level, I think interaction with people on a deeper level has been part of who I am, from birth, itโs a long story, but it seems that even if I were ill as a baby, I rarely got grumpy (how thatโs changed) I just value everyone around me equally, and try never to take anything for granted. I got this message from Melbourne, Australia previously, not one I could se myself doing, as the timing is wrong for the industry I am in, we work hard here that time of year, but still a lovely sentiment. Hi Rian, I have been following your love all things mechanical and anything interesting for years now. Especially your love for swap meets (boot fairs, jumble sales) If you are interested I have 3 sites that I share with 2 mates every February at Ballarat swap meet, the largest in Australia and the southern hemisphere. It is always on the last weekend in February. We set up after 2pm on the Thursday, and trade all day Friday and Saturday heading home Sat evening. We camp on site so there is no traveling time to and from. There is 14 kilometers of sellers! We have 2 tickets included on each site and most years I have a spare ticket. You really need the 3 days to look completely at all sites, as sellers come and go thru out the 3 days. I know its a long way away and more expensive to get here compared to the US but I am sure that other members can and will assist with your travel plans downunder. Maybe a trip from Melbourne to Sydney or the other way around meeting up with all of the regular posters along the way. Just an idea at this stage if you are interested feel free to ask me anything. Keep on showing your projects and all those boot fair bargains. cheers GaryI guess enjoying the trip is a result of minimal expectations that results in maximum experience and pleasure. Regardless, it was an awesome trip, and one I would not have made, were it not for all the people named and those unnamed in this write up.

Epic story as usual. As it's been said in comments before, it's amazing how friendships can blossom through our mutual interests in automobiles and rust, without issues such as distance and culture to get in the way. I've been checking in every day along the way to keep up with your progress. Long may the friendships and love of cars last. Bring on the next instalment!!

... on the contrary, just waiting patiently โcos you said you were busy ... And I have been really busy. An extra mention for Sally, who has put up with me since I got back, both the jet lag and then a week of very high stress at work. Thank you. I guess if you are open, then it will always be easy to connect. Being generous is a two way street. Simples. . RIGHT..........

So Craig and I are on a mission to squeeze as much out of even our last day and head out on a round trip to Hannibal which includes at least 5 Walmart branches and ends up with the two of us skulking into Ethyls like two horny school boys trying to see a favourite gym teachers bra strap ๐ BUGGGERRRR..! No Kelly.. Some pretty barmaid serves us, but there is no magic, nada, zero, zilch. Kelly or nowt. So I sheepishly ask if she is about today..... โYes she is, she is just on a quick break, be back in a bitโ Thank Fek, there is a god, well, one that likes her too. So we sit slowly sipping our very tall Cokes, and by the time I am 3/4 way through mine, the blonde girl whips it away to top it up again.... Land f the Free (refill) and all that. Then I hear a screech, like an old crone in a kids nursery story..... Youโre BACK !!!And Kelly charges me...... The rest becomes a haze of self contained Testosterone and pure admiration for this girl who can soooo twist us all around her little finger, while completely keeping her eye on the prize, or is that he ball. She knows she is representing Ethyls and service is number one, fun sprinkled all over it, in a contained way. She had not forgotten the last time Dennis and I were there, giving me a rundown of what happened. New guys to the trip need to go look at the trip two years ago, when she climbed onto my shoulders while I was sat on a barstool. Or even the first year I met her . I have to say, Craig was the perfect โWing Manโ just quietly taking it all in, as he was starting to think that this โค๏ธ KELLY โค๏ธ Was a figment of my lewd imagination. Once she calmed down to a mild tropical storms energy, and I introduced Craig, mentioning the road trip was on again and โthe boys back homeโ were hoping to see her, she was straight onto that job....... Giving no us the following pics, to share with her gang of fans. ๐คก Craigโs surprise at the Booby Head Massage hadme chuckling. ๐คก Craig took notes of it all, and will be around some time, who knows when..... to tell you more. A few just for me ๐ ๐คก Certainly puts the FUN into FUN๐คก Back behind the counter, she declined payment and said she would pick up the tab. ๐คก And from ๐ Kelly ๐ a message to all the readers and guys who do post replies on here. ๐คก So............. Happy now??
