Thanks to the sterling work of Frankenhealey we'll be in attendance at NEC Classic Car Show or to give it the proper name NEC Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery 2019. Now in a clever pyramid marketing manner they allow clubs to offer tickets discounts as we promote our attendance at the event, so if you fancy going to what is becoming one of the corner stones of the classic scene in the UK, then you can get your cheaper tickets here (click on the adverty thing, use the club code below): Our club code is : CC7543www.necclassicmotorshow.com/club-ticketsYou don't need to be on our stand to take advantage of the discount, so if you've fancied giving this event a go, or you are a regular and want some discount on your entry, do that that purchasing with a code thingie. Super excited to see what we can make happen at the show, I think we're going to have a stand of 4-5 cars and the Goddess. Would love some suitable Readers Other Mods stuff too. Frankenhealey is running point on this one for us, so hopefully he'll jump in with some extra info if it is needed here. I think I got everything right though

This can only be a good thing - I've been exhibiting / managing the Jowett Car Club stand for a number of years - this show has 85k + visitors and its spectrum is now broadening and is getting more accepting of the 80's / 90's classics along with the mildly modified classics - lots of fliers will be required for the stand and expect to be inundated due the broad spectrum that RR caters for

Sheesh it's been a while since I have been but I do gulp at even the discounted ticket cost - add fuel, parking and a bit of food/drink on the day and it's a £125 day out........

3000 cars?! That's quite a crazy amount. I might pop over for this one... photos seem interesting, and I've got time off at that time anyways.

Very well done on getting a stand. I used to help man a stand from Thursday (set up) to Sunday (take down) so know how big the waiting list is and how bloody hard you have to work!
As to travel expenses. It was cheaper for me to drive to my sister 15 miles away, park up and get an open return ticket for the train, rather than get one from my local station or drive up myself. So that's an option worth considering.

If we are going to follow the November show up with an appearance at the NEC Restoration Show in March we need to be thinking about making an application in the coming weeks - deadline for applications is early September - again I can help / assist if required (although I will have the Jowett Stand on the go for the March Restoration Show) @hotwire - Frankenhealey - give me a shout if you need to

Resto show might be our natural home BUT kinda committed to the Classic show so have a probable picture of me telling SWMBO about another show taking up valuable 'sitting in Italian bars holiday time' just 4 months later The call for cars, projects and ROM's goes out tonight!

Ian - Its a valid point - the main issues / hoops that I have to jump through for both shows is logistics - getting cars & display kit to the show - rely on individual vehicle owners and it gets easier - organising the stand & setting it up is easy especially in todays market of simple cheap effective pop up display banners - its always the cars / exhibits that make the stand - restoration show is slightly more difficult but there is a good handful of reliable RR members whom have all had cars at this show and a few of them being worked upon too one of the biggest hurdles is the RAMS (risk assessment method statement) for the Resto Show - however 6 years in and the fact that I have H & S quals makes this straight forward - its up to you & David - I can get involved with admin / H & S Stuff / behind the scenes for the Resto Show but I also have the Jowett Club stand to front - November show use me has you can has someone else does the Jowett Club stand - Chris

Okay so we have have a starter stand at the "NEC Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery 2019". If we can sell some tickets with our special code then we would be more than likely to be invited back next year and it can be a RR annual event. If we can sell a lot of tickets we can ask for a larger stand next time.
I call it a starter stand because it's so small.
Hall 5 : Stand number: 5-262 : Width: 15.5m : Depth: 6m ; Area: 93sqm
I reckon that with the Goddess with the Healey or Pitstop's 2CV on board we can get another 4 cars on the stand along with several Readers Other Modifications. We'll also need a couple of reserves for the inevitable snafu.
If you would like to volunteer your pride and joy and are able to deliver your car/ROM to the NEC on the Thursday and pick it up on the Monday and possibly help on the stand then PM me. Also feel free to make suggestions.
If you go to the NEC anyway then please buy your tickets with our club code : CC7543

What are you looking for in terms of stand cars?
Is there a particular cross section than you’d like to see?

Is there a particular cross section than you’d like to see? From my point of view Cross Section is exactly the word, we have such a variety of cars on the forum, I think something from each decade would be a good start, 70s, 80's, 90's. I'm guessing Frankenhealey has the 60's sewn up already. Also I'd like to be true to what we're about, so modified as well, track and street represented. Something nice and stock as well maybe, to show that we're not just about "ruining" cars (as some people see it), but ultimately... we are, and I don't think we should be afraid of that

whoooooof...how much?? i think i must be a little out of touch with show admission prices!! does the cost include a nutella covered topless go go go dancer guide and complimentary pimms all day?
mind you i think the last time i went to the nec was 22..23 odd years ago. i think it went along the lines of 5 hour drive up..stagger around show..have argument at cost of parking...5 hour drive home!
good luck with it all though guys , i know how much effort goes into this. i might be able to swing a long weeknd away with the mrs then leave her with friends in sutton coldfield and catch the train down.
