I live in a rented house so can't do anything permanent, but my garage floor is ridged concrete and is blinking uncomfortable. I am looking to put some sort of flooring down that I can easily remove should we ever need to move. I also don't want to have to spend a silly amount of money - spending £100 on a bunch of purpose-made tiles is not an option - I want to do this cheaply with a minimum amount of disruption. That is to say roll out the project, remove everything else else in the way, put down flooring, then, a la Haynes, "refitting is the reverse of removal".
We've got a carpet shop about a mile away, so an offcut is a great idea and wouldn't be expensive, but I know absolutely nothing about flooring, how to keep it in place and to not trip on an edge (like at the door). As the floor is concrete, how do I go about fixing it down? Is carpet tape going to be effective on the ridged concrete? And what should I do about the edging? Carpet tiles could also be an option as there's usually an office being refurbished somewhere nearby and they're also cheap.
I am open to your suggestions. Ideally about £30 or less... Thanks in advance
