Heres another conrod drama, not as big as the one further up!

Came out of my 2000cc FD VX4/90 back in the 80s, when I was a youf I splashed into flood,it was deeper than I though, the engine sucked in a load of water and hydraulically locked it, we dried it out and it ran fine for another year with the rod bent both ways! I only pulled the engine as I went to 2300cc

I kept the rod as a souvenir to show how strong the old slant 4 Vauxhall engines were!

ladies and gents...we have a winner!! thats a beauty.

I think I've got a bit blasé about this sort of thing as I see (and repair) it every day so don't take many photos. Here's the last 2 I can find - 2.0 Ecoboost and a VW 1.9TDi. I'll try and get more as I get through stuff, though I may start ranting about various curse word engines.

It's normally the mechanical fails / problems that get brought to light but has darrenh has posted their are plenty of structural bodywork fails out there - all wrapped up nicely in a combination of fibreglass, filler, newspaper ** & paint



Wood sleeved sills anyone?

Bought a mk4 escort van with a repair to the rear inner arch made with sand, cement and a coat of chassis black! The hole was almost big enough to get my head through, wish I could find out who did it as the house needs rendering and their finish was perfect!!!!
