Last report was some serious but no fatalities also none yet reported as life changing injuries. Both drivers interviewed by police but no charges as yet.
Organiser has stated he will not be doing anymore meets. Apparently this was quite a regular one but far more people turned up last night.

Just seen the videos, they're both asshats but I hope the 350z driver gets the book thrown at him, no need at all for that speed especially when there is that many people about. According to his parents he needs to spend time with his family...
It's always the 1 or 2 that spoil it for the 100s, I hope this doesn't bring in law or legislation prohibiting the number of cars at meets etc, although I've not been to one for a while for the same reason. Jeremy Vine didnt help matters either, all car enthusiasts are by default boy racers according to him.

[br When I posted this there were no reports of fatalities, unless there's been an update since? Hi Mate, Not about alive or dead. Did not mean to pick at or on your opinion at all. Rather, people will be emotionally scarred, physically scarred, so to my view, there will always be casualties, and for that I am always concerned. We will hear as it unfolds who got hurt, how bad etc. But, I understand and appreciate completely your sentiment, shared by me and every other reader on here. In this day and age unfortunately the fallout will be much more than a few stitches and physical scars. Hope that makes sense. I was really angry this morning and continue to be so as this sort of thing will happen, but is so unnecessary. Sure, blame the drivers. But if there was nobody to show off in front of ( ie crowds) and impress, I am pretty sure many testosterone fuelled cockups may not happen. So crowds with cameras and cheering will get them going. I think these debates can continue for ever, and then at some point we all start shouting at each other, but ultimately we all want the hobby to continue to prosper, regardless of whether we are drivers, spectators or supporters but it needs to be self regulated, like this forum is,

No worries grizz, was just concerned that things had got worse since I heard about it first thing this morning, been out all day and missed the news
And yes I totally agree that mental scarring can take a hell of a lot longer to repair than physical damage.

I'm struggling to know what to write without inserting swear words or shouty bits. Ive been watching videos on youtube recently of this sort of 'cruise' and cars leaving shows, all being filmed and posted by the same person, and anyone who drives like a bumhat gets their number plate blurred out. Why the f would you do that? Use it as evidence! In the comments after the video you can clearly read the attitude of the people who are there to watch the vid, or those who were at the meet. Its abysmal. There is even a vid where someone who is some sort of official stands by the exit shouting 'NO BURNOUTS!!!!' and everyone ignores him, and in the comments HE is the one who get ridiculed for it!?!
Its seemed inevitable for some time that something like this was going to happen. I have a certain amount of sympathy for those who have been affected by this, but everyone who was there knew what they were going to see and must surely have been aware of the dangers. The drivers of both cars are no worse than MANY of the drivers in MANY of the vids ive seen before, the only difference is this time it went very wrong.

Except we have absolutely no way of knowing if they were "sending it" or if they had good reason to speed off. Just because a bunch of mouth breathers were shouting at them doesn't mean that that is why they did what they did. Given that they pulled over with their lights flashing indicates they were already involved in something before being shouted at.

Id often wondered why the police don't just turn up when cars are leaving a show, or when these cruises are going on and just sit there in a bid to just calm things down. In a way its unfair to blame the organisers of the cruises, in the same way its unfair to blame the show organisers, its the direct actions of people driving like tits that cause these crashes, but the show/cruise will be associated with it.

Or just stick an ANPR camera at the exit wonder how many untaxed/uninsured cars it would pick up, or a speed camera van.

Coming back from the south coast a while ago, we drove past Silverstone, whilst one of the modified car events was just turning out. I reckon that the entire police force for the country was on the A43, every turning, roundabout or straight bit had marked car or ANPR Van on it. I appreciate that's a major event, but as mentioned earlier there's enough footage available to show some of the driving styles that occur at some of these events. Would have thought it was worth a car or two. I was in a diesel range rover with a 14 foot loaded trailer, so actually moving was more of an issue for me.

Banning orders are already in place at some of these meets In the Kent area Some of these dicks are a complete liability I can see some ordinary meets suffering A real shame for the decent people, and that includes a lot of the younger kids, they just want to see decent motors and have a good time Weโve all been there at some stage in our lives And I still like to see what there building these days But it seems some of the younger generation are driving far too powerful cars for there experience Perhaps a legacy of the easy finance available nowadays?? Hope the injured make a speedy recovery

Police turned up at Goodwood weekender around about leaving time. Had a mozy around and left. Obviously nobody set off their Dick radar ๐๐๐

When we were at the 4x4 and vintage autojumble at Newbury a while ago, the marked police 110 was full of land rover parts! Either they're using it as a parts hauler, or the local police budget has come down a hell of a long way since I was a met police civvy worker...

West Midlands/Black Country now has a blanket ban on all 'Car Cruising Events' (their words), enforced by the High Court..
Has it stopped it? Nope. Parts of Birmingham are still used as faux-racetracks by witless knuckledraggers and spotfarmers. It's just gone underground, that's all.
