The posts to this discussion ended back in 2013. Heading was that it was saved !!!
I wouldn't really say it had been saved.
How do I know this you ask
ITS BEEN FOUND ONCE AGAIN SAT IN A FARMERS FIELD IN DEEPEST DARKEST DEVON.
My son has picked up and is now stored.
It pretty much looks the same as when it was sat outside the industrial unit several years ago now.
My question to you all now is do the parts still exist and how do we get this one off car back to its former glory.
It could be for sale BUT not to someone who going to stick it in a lock up and never touch it.
It needs to be saved after all its the only one that exists.
I will add photos soon

I did know where some of the bits are and know a man who knows a man about some more, and likely know who may have dumped what’s left in a field but I have no idea who you are?

Googled it an found a link to here forum.retro-rides.org/thread/132771Read the thread, it was interesting at the start but went down hill... you aren’t ‘hybridowner’ are you? Comments like these; Sound a bit like the conversations in the thread posted above. Though important and unique, it’s not necessarily valuable, and I’m guessing 7 years later is in worse condition now. It’s the sort of thing I can imagine tucked away at Gaydon or somewhere I wonder if it was abandoned because the parts to rebuild it weren’t forthcoming? Anyway good luck with it

Oh God, let it die. That previous thread made my brain hurt so much I'm not sure I can take a resurrection of it six years later So, that Joe Lucas, apparently he sold bottles of magic wiring smoke, yes? An American told me so...

We are nothing to do with any of the past threads, posts or replies. As I have said I read all the comments from years ago and just wanted to see if anyone knew where the parts were that were stripped out. The car is still sound although some of the fibreglass is damaged. There are no dials. Interior is in great condition. Headlights broken tyres are pumped up. And seeing as it was sat in a field the underside is solid and clean which makes me think it's been inside somewhere and not outside for the last 6 years or so.

Well, if I understood it correctly the lunatic with all the attitude "hybridowner" possessed the drivetrain and other parts and lived in France somewhere. Sadly I suspect your chances of ever finding them are slim to nothing. Unless he's gonna rejoin with a new log-in just to continue posting about how poverty-stricken he is. Given it's six years ago and he's not been heard of since, I'd bet on "not"

Although since he'd apparently perfected some way of ceramic coating engines internally so that they could run without oil, presumably he's now a multi-billionaire and has risen from his breadline poverty like a Dickens triumph. Or little Orphan Annie. Or maybe we'd have heard about it...

Yes I read all his comments. If the parts are all long gone then maybe it's best just to clean it up as best it can be and put somewhere people can see it and leave it at that.

It's an important car and should be cosmetically repaired and put on display somewhere, if the under-bonnet technology has been lost then that's unfortunate but not the primary consideration. I think this car represents something seminal, i.e. that a small part of the UK car industry were looking forward to alternative propulsion systems decades before most had started to even consider it. I think the name Lucas probably helped to seal its fate. I'm surprised Ogle wanted to put their name to this ugly duckling though.

I have £6000 that I would like to invest in the reconstitution and preservation of rare heritage alternative fuel vehicles.
Please tell me where to send it.

My son has the ultimate decision about its fate. I believe he is trying to find the best solution to save it and is in talks with several people and organisations.

Okay, firstly the background.
Myself, Phil Howard, Dave Poole and a.n.other (not on RR) rescued the vehicle from hybridowner when he left for France. We knew it had been damaged and parts were missing but it wasn’t until it arrived in Devon (it was moved to an acquaintances unit) that we realised just how bad it was.
While the other thread was running, in the background, we were desperately trying to get the electrics back from France - you’ve read the thread but still wouldn’t believe how hard dealing with that guy was! Unfortunately said “acquaintance” then went bust and his unit was repossessed (bear in mind we are scattered across the UK, so we heard this some time after the fact).
A lot of effort was spent trying to recover the hybrid (and other cars stored there), without any success - the end, we thought.
Then, out of the blue, we were told that it was in a local farmers barn - so arrangements were made to recover it again. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen before secondhandman and his son saved it.
So, where are we now? Essentially they have the vehicle and amazingly, we now have the paperwork and electrics. I’ve spoken to secondhandmans son and he is genuinely interested in seeing it saved, so we think there’s a way forward.

For a bunch of people trying to save a car, it sure seems like it's getting spread in ever-more abstract puzzle pieces across Europe in the attempt.
Somebody take the wheels off it quickly and send them to a random address from the phone book.

At least it’s all now in the same country, if not the same county.
For your kind donation, quatermass, would like the bank account details now?

I really wish the owner of the car had slapped a v8 in it and told hybridman to go suck a donkeys hose.
I take it someone finally managed to get the bits off him? I really feel for whoever had the unfortunately job of dealing with him.

Quite amazing really. If it had been called a Lucas FORD hybrid or similar people would have been on it faster than a Tramp could down a free sandwich. Unfortunately it had Reliant involved so, obviously, it must be a bag of rancid old sh*t unworthy of saving. It's no uglier than a whole plethora of prototypes of its era, some even made it into production but we won't argue the toss about which ones because beauty is in the eye of the beholder even if that eye belonged to the late Marty Feldman. This car is a time piece of what a collaboration between two industrial ' giants' or pygmies could do to advance our transport of the future when, at that time, the future of the car as we knew it was being called into question. Nowdays it's all about emissions but then it was about the long term future of oil supply. Crazy world, eh! Just appreciate it for what it is and marvel at how we used to live. People, those days are long gone, more is the pity.
