Not new in 1969 but I’d like to cruise around in one of these. There was a decent project one of these on ebay recently, and for the kind of money that it could have been a no brainer... but I just can't over the froggy eyes on these personally, and they would have bugged me so much I'd have had to have started bodging with the craft tools and sticky back plastic to change them. So I passed.

I'm going to translate that question into " what new car would you have bought in 1969, if you could " I'd get a Mallock U2 Mk8. ( pic might be of a slightly later one...)

When I saw the thread title I automatically assumed it was a Stooges appreciation thread. So my answer would be "I don't care what I'm driving so long as it has an eight-track and I can listen to 1969 and Now I Wanna Be Your Dog pretty damn loud while I'm living life like I'm in an early Walter Hill movie"
Thanks. Not very helpful, was it? Errm. Probably a Beetle, I suppose. Almost certainly with daisies painted on it. Go Clean for Gene, maaaaaan

I'm going to translate that question into " what new car would you have bought in 1969, if you could " I wasn't actually born until 1971, but if I could have in 1969 I would have bought either: 1. Ford Capri Mk1 3000 GT (the car you always promised yourself, apparently...) 2. Ford Escort Mk1 twin cam or better still, RS1600. However, a GT or 1300E would be quite acceptable! 3. The good ol' Dodge Charger 440 R/T. 4. Rover P6B 3500S. 5. Mini Cooper 1275S. All bona-fide icons of their time, with great looks and certain thrills to go with them.

...... But my 1969 ( and still on top of my bucketlist ) choice would be this thing of V6 beauty !! Just wow!! Had one of those in white back last century, a stunning car but I have never seen a car rust so fast. Mine was the 3200cc later version. I bought it from a garage that had set up the cam timing the same on both sides of the Vee . Had to rebuild one side. Adrian

as stunning as these cars are...go back to the start of the thread..the apollo 11 mission and check out the stunning recreation on bbc iplayer..8 days to the moon. as i was only 1 at the time it was like watching it all first hand and in more detail than available at the time, a very well put together piece , i was captivated. it truely was an epic journey.

Except for the rust etc?
