A couple of weeks ago I sold my Porsche Boxster and '66 Mustang within a few days of each other.
Straight away I succumbed to an impulse purchase........
.......... a 1983 Cortina Estate.
Externally it looks like a tidy, late model Cortina with some later Ford alloy wheels fitted.
It's a bit of a 'wolf in sheep's clothing' as under the bonnet you'll find e recently fitted Focus ST170 2.0 engine with Weber carb mated to a Type 9 gearbox. Loads more goodies fitted in this quality conversion include a new prop, poly-bushes fitted throughout, alloy radiator, silicone hoses, lowered adjustable suspension with new shocks and springs, a custom stainless exhaust and loads more trick bits. Someone spent a fortune building this car, using all the right bits.
Interior is in very good condition and almost completely standard.
It has 11 months MOT and drives very well (I bought it on the South Coast and drove 55 miles home at motorway speeds without issue). Since then I've only driven it twice.
I'm just not feeling the love for the Cortina and have decided to sell it on. The wife hates it and hasn't quite forgiven me for selling the Boxster, which she loved.
I'm away next week but planning to list it on ebay when I'm back. Before I do, I wondered if anyone might fancy a swap or part exchange deal for the Cortina. I've been advised that it should fetch about £4,000 on eBay, so looking for something about that value but can do a deal with something + or - a couple of thousand £'s.
Only issue I'm aware of is the relay for the Kenlowe fan seems to have burnt out preventing the fan coming on, my friendly local mechanic will have a look at it next week while I'm away and sort it out.
Will consider most things, either 4 wheels or 2, just not too new or boring.
